Hi all. I'm suffering like fuck these past 2 weeks for gallstone attacks. Currently suffering from one since 9 last night. I thought I was doing well not having any since November last year and last Monday I randomly got one.

Tramadol and paracetamol doesn't seem to be working for me now.

Has anyone suffered with gallstones? If so what medication worked for you?

Really don't know what to do.

Tried and they got one late afternoon.

I did go to A&E last week and they did say if it happens again come back. I'm not sure if I should..

Do it woman!! Just go. I know from past experience you'll be fine all day and think ohhh don't bother going. Then the minute the doctors close, the pain comes back at force 10.

I just might have to go to A&E.

My doctors won't do anything.

You need to get it seen to. Mine never gave me any trouble, then one got out only to get stuck in the bile duct and triggered an attack of acute pancreatitis that put me in hospital for two weeks.

I had mine out. Bit of a lifestyle change but no more intolerable cramps!

My dad suffered for years with them til he got them lasered ..

Get yourself to a&e as that is probably where the doc would send you anyway...

It just cuts out the middle man

I had my Gall-bladder removed in 2008 after suffering for years. Best decision I ever made. I can now enjoy a Chinese takeaway without rolling around the floor in agony at 2 in the morning.

I don't envy you your pain.

I had an attack years ago. It was my first one but it was so severe I got an emergency ultrasound a few days later and my gall bladder was removed shortly afterwards.

The doctor doing the ultrasound informed me my gall bladder "looked like a bag of marbles".

There were too many and they were too large to do anything but remove my gall bladder.

I had them for years... Without knowing what it was (didn't even go to the doctor) ..

Eventually it was so bad one night I went to the emergency out of hours doctor..

He sent me to A&E. Within a couple of months I had my galbladder removed.

Best thing I ever did. I could kick myself for not getting it seen to earlier.

I echo everything above. It fecking hurts. You cannot carry on like this knowing another attack can happen and totally debilitate you for however long it decides to.

Badger the doctors. Get yourself to A&E at the times the attacks are unbearable. If they decide to take the gallbladder out let them. You can live quite happily without it as long as you watch what you eat.

Until then learn which foods set you off with an attack. For me it was anything except soup and ginger nut biscuits. Weird.

My cholecystitis is definitely in the top three most painful things I have ever experienced, possibly in the number one slot.

I can't decide whether it was more painful than having part of one of my big toenails cut away and the nail bed killed with chemicals, without anaesthetic.
