Hi...I seem to suffer with nasal congestion quite a bit and I'm wondering whether to try flushing out my sinuses with a neti pot?

thoughts?

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Ooh good question.

I've been reading about them recently because I have recurrent sinus inflammation and a really annoying post nasal drip.

My mum uses one and she swears by it ive yet to try it. I think you need to be careful not to over do it

Yeah I've seen various clips on You Tube and it looks fairly easy. ..as long as you use distilled water or saline

Thats right ...that distills it as it's not advisable to use tap water neat

Boiling water does not make it distilled. The steam from the water needs to be collected for it to be distilled and that's a fairly complicated business to do.

The process can be carried out safely with water that has been boiled and allowed to cool

Central

There's nothing especially magical about these pots, though flushing your sinuses with an appropriate solution is helpful. Very dilute saline solution is ideal, where the water is prepared as others point out.
