'Curvy' Bodytype

When did the word Curvy start to mean fat?

To me, a curvy woman is a woman with an hourglass figure. I.e. A large bust, a slim waist, wide hips and shapely legs.

However in the media/society in general curvy now seems to mean overweight, usually as a way to not offend overweight women.

Not looking to offend people on here, but from viewing profiles I'd say the majority of women on here who have their body weight as 'curvy' are simply overweight!

Probably gonna get slated for this

Subjective though isn't it? it's how they define themselves.

it's always meant fat. tits and hips on women are fat so when it meant voluptuos it meant fatty parts then.

Can't you be overweight and curvy? I don't think they're necessarily mutually exclusive terms.

I get where you're coming from but I don't think there's a 'set' definition that says curvy can only apply to "medically accepted under to average weighted" women - you can be curvy at all weight classifications can't you?

Mmm true

I like to class myself as slimline

rather than skinny

Unfortunately sites don't yet have a slimline option

Curvy as in Rubinesk.. Boobs bum belly.

It not up to you to say how a lady described herself if you don't like it jog on.

If it's an argument your after try looking at past forum threads.

Hourglass is it's own shape. It annoys me When people say that this is the only Curvy allowed. It's already a desirable figure shape to have. Curvy isn't a defined shape. I like to think I'm curvy even though I'm pear shaped. I still have curves they just aren't perfect.

Well to be honest, the description is in the name...fat isnt curves. Curves dont change with the position a woman is standing in or sitting in, thats fat. Curves are firm and dont move, or at least not that much. I dont know why fab just doesnt have a 'fat' option. Upto people in question then if they wish to use it or not

Don't meet them then.

I'm of the view that someone fat can be curvy. I'm obese, but my waist/hip ratio is 0.7. Of course, to avoid offending the poor sensitive souls who are terrified of accidentally stumbling across a fat bird, I've plumped for fabulous.

Natural (not cosmetically altered) breasts move and change with the position a woman is standing or sitting in. I guess that makes them fat and not curves

Medically obese is totally different to peoples opinion of obese, medically a woman of an average high which is 5ft 3 in the UK and over 11 stone is classed as obese

"Don't meet them then.

I'm of the view that someone fat can be curvy. I'm obese, but my waist/hip ratio is 0.7. Of course, to avoid offending the poor sensitive souls who are terrified of accidentally stumbling across a fat bird, I've plumped for fabulous.

Obese??? Jeez what does that make me then????

Medically obese is totally different to peoples opinion of obese, medically a woman of an average high which is 5ft 3 in the UK and over 11 stone is classed as obese "

Obese is obese though...theres only one definition of it. I think society has lessened its coverage, and pushed its usage out to just the morbidly obese so as not to offend many, but in reality obese is still obese

I think it's just that as the population's weight on average increases, we get used to seeing bigger people so they don't seem as big. Obese isn't an insult, it's just a medical term. I only used it because I'm conscious of my weight at the moment because I'm shifting some chunk and I'm nearly back down into just overweight territory again

Firstly - I don't really care how people choose to define themselves.

Secondly - language evolves. Let's say curvey does start to mean overweight rather than hourglass. So what? It's the evolution of language.

"When did the word Curvy start to mean fat?

To me, a curvy woman is a woman with an hourglass figure. I.e. A large bust, a slim waist, wide hips and shapely legs.

However in the media/society in general curvy now seems to mean overweight, usually as a way to not offend overweight women.

Not looking to offend people on here, but from viewing profiles I'd say the majority of women on here who have their body weight as 'curvy' are simply overweight!

Probably gonna get slated for this "

Curvy is a body shape, not size.

You can still get a curvy, petite woman who's a size 8.

I hear you, but its really a situation where opinions are irrelevant. Its not up for debate because theres an actual definition. Society has given the impression that obeseity is subjective. Its not, its a simple yes or no

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

There isn't an option to put fat and as I have seen on touted on Facebook 'I have an hourglass figure.....it's just that mine contains more sand'

I put fabulous because it was the end one after large.....I have a defined waist but I also have massive boobs, a huge bum and big belly....still got a waist though

It's up to the individual to decide their own body shape and as long as they have plenty of pics up you can see for yourself how fat everyone is before you contact them.....easy isn't it

"What happened with the word 'stud'

Used to be fit chunky guys. Now its just thin guys who have adopted the word. "

It also used to mean experienced, skilled lovers. Now it seems to have been adopted by those barely out of childhood, with an over-inflated opinion of their own greatness.

But then such descriptions, just the same as curvy, are open to individual interpretation.

At least with curvy you can judge yourself from photos.

There aren't many body type labels, so it will be subjective. As UK average body changes by the year, the new average is overweight.

Focus less on the label and more on the person. If you like the person and how they look, go and enjoy yourselves. Quit pretending not to offend when you also state that the terms are used - or not - because they offend.

Spot on...not everyone seems to be on board with that though. Whatever happened to just standing straight and taking a picture? All this bending over, or stretching the arms up to the sky. Christ, all we want is a normal picture in normal lighting

This coming from the guy with the poorly lit profile picture "

Do i or do i not have regular straight up pics in normal light on my profile?

If someone's too thick to realise my tits might be slightly lower if my arms weren't raised, or my arse might look smaller if it wasn't pushed out and adjust their expectations accordingly, that's their problem. I adjust my expectations of the length of mens' cocks on photos that you can see have been taken from specific angles without any drama.

Perhaps we should demand a move to passport style photos only. No smiling, god forbid anyone might want to make themself look attractive.

I know most ladies have some sort of body issues,as do some men (I'm one of them) but to say the majority of curvy ladies are overweight is bad taste in my opinion. If somebody think of themselves as curvy then that's what they are. Nobody has the right to say otherwise. Women and Men have enough social pressure regarding what they look like.

No you merely assume I haven't.

J'adore is actually my favourite fragrance I wear it daily

And I presume you wear a lot of black because you're sheepishly following diors fall 2016 collection that features black heavily, however if you're a true Dior girl you'll know it's the shoes that are most important afterall, "You can never take too much care over the choice of your shoes. Too many women think that they are unimportant, but the real proof of an elegant woman is what is on her feet"
