Mrs N gets the most horrendous migraine attacks with no discernible trigger. We've had consultant neurologists, acupuncture, massage therapy, food and drink diaries all for years and no clues still.

Only solution......bed,, dark room, bucket for emergency use, and sleep (if possible)

I have had migraines triggered by perfume, pregnancy and something I cannot put my finger on. They are infrequent.

When I get a headache I make sure I'm fully hydrated.

Why can you only take paracetamol?

Op I feel for you, I suffer horrendous migraines to the point I've been put on pethedine in hospital for them. Can your doctor give you preventative medicine? I wa put on pzitofen and its drastically reduced mine in their frequency

You're a lucky so n so. Mrs N is also on that, as well as zolmitriptan when a severe attack hits. They barely make a dent on the problem

Has she tried the imigrin injections? Doctors don't like prescribing them but they are the only thing that kills mine when they hit

Does she get either tunnel vision/ flashing lights/ little bright squiggles (aura) beforehand? If she does, she needs to treat the migraine before the onset of symptoms. For me this reduces the intensity and duration of after-effects.

Because of the medication I'm already on

I meant to say before the onset of pain.

It always strikes more suddenly, she can be fine one minute then she goes quiet and I can look and just know it's time to act. Then it's do the good husband bit with cold compress, water, holding hair, etc

Flashing lights for me cause Migraines. I'm lucky I can move away from most triggers so only get a true Migraine once or twice a year.

Once it hits though I'm straight to bed and no good for a day. Not to mention small residual headaches for a couple of days afterwards.

Migraleave lessens the pain but does not get rid sadly.

Not everyone gets the aura (which doesn't last long), my mother didn't. I am thankful for this warning as you can imagine.

Has it been diagnosed as migraine? I would ask you a couple of questions but don't want to in public.

Tried chiropractory? You may have tension in your neck or shoulders that is trapping a nerve. It may be worth a try if it is a daily event, though make sure they are registered, or are well practised.

... When driving a few years ago i had three bangs up the back, and the last one was a bad one,i had to have physio on my neck,so maybe it could be down to that.

I thought I suffered with headaches and migranes.. doc sent me to get an eye test as he thought it could be that i needed glasses . Turned out I did need them .. but also tge optician made a referral to the hospital for an mri scan to check if I have Intracranial hypertension.. which is very likly as the buildup of spinal fluid as putting pressure behind my eyes and my brain ..

yes this or dorn therapist/ craniosacral therapist..it starts in the stomach as the cerebral fluid in the spine gets trapped in the vertebrae there...triggers the nerves to the stomach and then moves upwards..so spinal massage..i get them if the vertebrae in my neck slightly pops out. i stretch my whole back by putting my chin to my chest and rubbing up my neck to where the head rests on the top...treated many a person for tinnitus and migraines..its all stemmed from skeletal alignment issues xx
