I thought this was eat, shoots and leaves. Although would nibbling on a cock/vagina be vegan?

"I think we should have a general concensus on whether or not humans should eat meat ... It doesn't need to get horrible, just some people struggle to get across a point without becoming personal or aggressive ...." i think you are trying to herd cats (get the link!!) trying to get a consensus on that subject. The fact that humans can easily get their required energy and nutritional needs from animal and plant based foods shows that humans have the opportunity to choose a diet that suits them based on a whole host of reasons; ethics, culture, morals etc. The fact that some are unable to respect someone's preferences for said dietary choices (who would think we would argue about preferences on here, its unheard of!! ) is one of the downsides of being human i guess.

I hear what you are saying but I don't necessarily believe it is all that easy if at all possible to get all the vitamins and nutrients your body requires to thrive (not survive) from an unbalanced diet of either herb or Carn I believe we need a healthy amount of both as I believe is the General concensus..

"I eat certain types of meat because I like the taste and I'm not very fond (read as actively dislike) all veg due, due to think to my mum pressure cooking all veg to a gray pulp. One of my friends is a Vegan and has been since she was 16, through her choice due to her personal beliefs on not eating meat. We both have the occasional joke attempt at trying to get the other to eat either veg in my case or bacon in hers. But at the end of the day we both respect eachothers point of view because it's a personal choice on what to eat or not. " And you can't argue with that everyone makes there own life choices as long as it doesn't affect other people then there should be no issues .

Oh it's definitely possible. Plenty of vegans thrive. Let's face it,if it was actually impossible, then there woukd be no need to argue about it. Everyone is entitled to eat what they choose. Some people's choices cause pain and suffering and death to other living creatures and some people's choices don't. It is strange that many people who eat dead animals are also against foxhunting and bullfighting. Don't see the logic there....

I may like the taste of meat but i am not a monster who likes see an animal suffer unnecessarily. Again i know there are some who believe that an animal dying for me to eat it is unnecessary, i however believe that i am an omnivore and as such enjoy eating meat and veg.

"Vegans appear to live longest and have very healthy lives. All the vegans I know seem very happy, healthy people. That's their choice. Leave them to it. Equally, vegans, for those of us who choose to eat meat, leave us to it. " Maybe the vegans don't eat as much fast food maybe not so many ready made meals maybe as a whole they eat more nutrients derived from plants which as meat eaters we don't consume enough. but let's face it the majority of people are lazy when it comes to food they want it quick and easy and to fit in around a hectic workload / lifestyle . No doubt if there was a study the same but comparing to meat eaters who only prepare their own meals and also have a more varied diet the results wouldn't perhaps be so clear cut . I know for me when I was hitting the gym and watching my diet more it was time consuming preparing every meal carefully and expensive to get all the supplements ingredients etc

You're going with all life is sacred and equal as your argument? What do you say to the animals that eat meat then? Yes, to humans, animals are less than humans. Unless it's one on one with a really hungry tiger then the tiger may well be above the human.

Just look at the news. Some animals hurt and kill other animals, of their own and other species, all the time too. If we can make a choice not to hurt, kill and eat other humans or other animals but the animals are incapable of making such a choice does that put us above the animals or make them equal to us?

Equally, vegans, for those of us who choose to eat meat, leave us to it. Interesting because all the vegans I've ever met had an emaciated pallor and were very lethargic. I'm sure they'd just think it as anecdotal evidence from a rotund gentleman. You see they have to get personal Are animals any less than humans? because we eat them we have to think less of them? surely the hours that go into animal husbandry looking after the meat we eat shows we are conscious of how they are treated before we eat them. Princess Ann herself advocated eating horse meat because it would mean a dramatic improvement in the regulation and conditions that horses are required to be kept in. Keep them captive I guess. I mentioned earlier there was a time when humans were thought unequal. Isn't it just an extension of the mind to equalise animal lives? equalise them how? By not eating them :-0 how does that make them equal to humans? That humans shall not use their power to hurt/kill other humans or animals will the animals treat us equally and not hurt or kill us when we come into contact with them? " Why think of what we as humans get out of animals?

We as humans have taken over the planet...we granted our similars equal rights...but will ride roughshod over those dissimilar to us. I'm talking moral high ground really...maybe not practical but still worth having in mind all the time

What I understand you to mean is that humans who had previously enslaved other humans and then given the enslaved rights (for which many would argue there is a long way to go yet) means we are at a point where we can give animals the same rights.

"I'm actually quite impressed - I've seen far more ignorant arguments about veganism in far more educated corners of the internet (that isn't exactly saying much though). I'm a fully fledged carnivore FYI, but I'm happy for others to choose a diet of their choice without having to be a fuckbag about it." ...and then I saw the other thread. I thought I might be being a little too optimistic.

"How many vegan threads can one forum hold It's been fun! Vegan here at home, and as much as possible out. If I'm with friends or family, I won't ask them to make anything else for me. If I'm out at a restaurant, I'll go off the menu, but not ask the staff to make something special. That's my choice, it's not for everyone. I just try and keep the hassle my choice causes to others to an absolute minimum. " But it's a political world? Make ur preferences heard?! That's the dilemma I got hmm.
