Well public health England have basically said we have to stop calling vaping smoking, and stop treating it the same. So I'd go with non-smoker.

Both me and L vape, we list as non smokers

Yep still a smoker.

And I deeply enjoy telling passengers here when I catch them doing it inside to move to the smoking areas. (Though we don't so much make people move because of the negative health effect(that shit is still carsnogenic) as the vapour still trips the fire/smoke senors and the bridge officers get pissed off).

That and I don't like the smell of ither

For me I don't meet smokers because I don't like kissing someone who has just had a cigarette or who smells strongly of smoke. Although I have meet smokers n not realised they were smokers because they made sure they smelt nice n tasted nice.

As for vapers I've not meet anyone to my knowlage who vapes so I don't know if id categorise them as a smoker or not. Xxx

I mean, it's great they're less harmful but I really don't want to enter a thick fog when near one

Its classed as smoking in most public places and work places now, even though there is no smoke involved its vapour,so the answer is to ban kettles (especially in cafes)saunas, and all the moisture in the air

There is no pyrolysis and thus no smoke, ergo, it's not smoking.

It's not the nicotine that harms you, it's the smoke. Any smoke of organic origin contains Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons such as Benzo Alpha Pyrene. which are highly carcinogenic. (You might want to think about that at your next barbecue or bonfire party)

Vape vapour does not contain these combustion products and any deleterious effects from secondary passive inhalation are negligible.

I class vaping as smoking - it doesn't smell as foul as ciggies but it still stinks!

I'd rather kiss a vaper than a smoker though!

You're breaking the new HSE regs if you're forcing vapers to use shelters for smokers.

Employers and public places now have to make the clear distinction between the two - vaping doesn't involve combustion, it's heated liquid and therefore not smoking. It also only contains 4 ingredients - propylene glycol (used widely in the food industry and also in asthma inhalers), vegetable glycerine (again, used widely in the food, medical and cosmetic industry), flavouring's (usually food grade) and nicotine (a stimulant found naturally in many fruits vegetables, plants and also produced naturally in our bodies).

Cigarettes contain over 2000 chemicals, most of which are due to the combustion.

There's no connection between vaping and cancer as far as we know and the rumours of 'popcorn lung' caused by dycetyl were a scare story as most liquids don't contain it and those that did contain 1500 times less than a cigarette. There's also never been a single case of either a smoker or vaper ever getting popcorn lung.

Current medical evidence suggests that vaping is 95% safer than smoking and there is no risk to passive vapers. Numerous British institutions are now recommending vaping as the best way to quit smoking, these include -

The NHS

Public Health England

The British Lung Foundation

The Royal College of Physician's

Cancer Research UK

It is thought that by the end of the century vaping could save a billion lives if people switched from smoking.

It can't be anymore. If any employer wishes to class vaping as smoking and make vapers use smoking shelters they're breaking the new regulations from HSE. If they log into the official website and search for "smoking in the workplace" they'll find the last two paragraphs gives them all the information they need.

"New to vaping,do I call myself a non smoker? "

For health insurance purposes you are usually not considered to be a non smoker until you've given up for 12 months. This may also extend to Vapes if you're using the ones with nicotine in them.

They have said it. They may have simply not used the exact wording that I did.

And since I am paraphrasing rather than directly quoting, I highlighted that by saying "basically said".

But by all means, carry on your pedantry, it fits the image of the vape fearmonger very well.

But you are still a nicotine addict.

People will say they can detect the nicotine on you but unless they have an allergy (very, very unlikely) they are mistaken as it odourless.

Not necessarily: as you can get 0% nicotine liquid.

In fact that's how I gave up the fags; went straigt to 0 nicotine vale liquid; because it was the nicotine habit to break first, then the physical hsbit.

By the way, nicotine is not all bad: a study revealed that nicotine reduces the onset of dementia significantly; the study reports were, of course heavily suppressed by the anti smoking fascists

There are 599 additives added to tobacco by cigarette manufacturer's!!

Makes me wonder why smoking is still considered more acceptable than vaping to many people.

I regularly get complaints when I use the fag shed at work. I use a mech with super sub ohm coils and the smokers always moan and wave their arms around as if the stuff I'm blowing out is in some way quickening their death. It's fucking hilarious sometimes...

There's no law stopping people vaping indoors. It's purely at the owners discretion or company policy and businesses are being told to make sure they distinguish between the two and protect vapers from secondhand smoke.

Nicotine isn't smoke, it's also found in fruit and vegetables. Do you also class people who eat tomatoes as smokers?

Smoke is caused by combustion.

Vaping is the vapor from a heated liquid, like steam from a kettle.

Now you're informed.

Altrincham

There are tow issues the can crop up with Vaping. The obvious one is that the participant is still addicted to nicotine and therefore has not really given up. The not so obvious one is that some flavours, particularly the sweet ones, are just as bad if not wors than smoking for the lungs, sdue to the chemicals used to enhance the sweetness. The vapour generated contains those chemicals and so is going to affect non participants as well. If in doubt look up a condition called Popcorn Lung.

So to me if you Vape, firstly you are still a smoker, and secondly you owe it to those who may be interested in meeting you to state it on your profile.

"I class vapors still smokers as you get some e liquids with nicotine in them. Would rather people be honest on profile about it so we can make informed desicions re meeting. Limits us but hey its down to personal preference is it.

Nicotine isn't smoke, it's also found in fruit and vegetables. Do you also class people who eat tomatoes as smokers?

Smoke is caused by combustion.

Vaping is the vapor from a heated liquid, like steam from a kettle.

Apparently aubourgine has even more nicotine than tomatoes,

Popcorn lung is a myth when it Co.ex to vaping. The link was made with a chemical called dycetyl which is commonly used when making popcorn. Many people involved in the making of the snack contracted it. When someone found that dycetyl was uses as a flavour enhancer in vape liquid they claimed that vapers were at risk, the papers got hold of it and it snowballed from there. Cigarette smoke contains 1500 times the amount of dycetyl that vape liquid ever contained (it was removed from all vape liquids ages ago) and no smoker or vaper has ever contracted popcorn lung with the exception of those who make popcorn. The sweetners used now (and not many contain sweetners) are all food grade, usually ethyl malto or sucralose.

Yes, twice as much.

Other veggies that contain it are potatoes, cauliflower and tea!

In some people's eyes that makes everyone a smoker.

"I'm a vaper, ever noticed on label its toxic and if swallowed call a poison centre, yeh like ive got the number of my local one to hand!!"

That would be because nicotine is a poison that can be quite deadly if ingested.

"I cant bear to be near anyone vaping, it smells awful and I don't want to breath it in.

I don't think you'd notice if someone had been vaping previously though.

This, I can't stand it when people.just think it's OK to blow it all over you when they walk. It smells acrid and some of the sweet smelling liquids make me gag.

I think people need to realise that it may not be smoking, but I still don't want it blown in my face,to me it's like having a blast of deodorant or air freshener sprayed in your face

Only if it's deliberate. If they're outside and the wind blows it your way it can't really be helped can it.

Its the deliberate blows on train platforms, people outside shops stood still blowing it all over the place. At least blow it up so the wind takes it.

I wouldn't sneeze or spit on someone, so wouldn't expect to be vaped on

So you're definite it's 100% always deliberate and the conditions outside have nothing to do with it? You're awfully unlucky if that's the case.

No I didn't say that, I meant people need to realise that it's still anti social and need To be more considerate where they blow the smoke/vapour/smelly shit or whatever it is called!

I know wind can carry, but when you have a plume blown straight into your face several times a week it becomes very annoying, and its in various places, stations, pubs, entrances to supermarkets, not always outside too

Only in huge doses. You could drink a bottle of e-liquid with no side effects.

I mix my own and it's common to do a taste test during the steeping process to make sure you've got the correct balance of flavours.

Obviously that's an adult, I dare say the effects would be different on a small child but if you leave your liquid in reach of a child with the childproof cap missing you're a total idiot anyway.
