My friend is going through a messy divorce she has three children. Now I have been supportive but with the divorce getting messy she is involving the kids posting crap on facebook etc and I think it is wrong and that she should keep them out of it. I have tried explaining this but now she has turned on me. Should I stay out of it or go with my instincts as I am only thinking of the kids as they shouldn't have to read thus stuff and they should not be treated like weapons. What should I do as I do not want to loose this friendship x

Tell her only a real cunt uses her kids as weapons in a divorce and then slowly back away

Tell her not to have anything recorded anywhere that could be used against her later. Tell her the people that write personal shit on Facebook look like absolute cunts that people snigger about. Tell her that she's embarrassing herself.

Emotions are running high, your care and common sense is valuable - it's hard but your being a true friend by telling her the truth

Yeah and maybe not write about it on this type of site especially naming the children and having public pictures where you can be recognised and from there your friend can too.

Difficult to stay out of it if you have strong feelings on the subject.

As a friend you should offer advice but theres a time to give it and how you put it across. Your job at the moment should be primarily to support.

I do support but hate seeing the kids upset. Sorry for posting on here easier to ask strangers than get others involved have learned this by working with the Samaritans. And I would never slag or judge anyone behind their backs x

Chams or Socials

Anything on social media can be printed & used against her. Kids should not be used in this way & is highly frowned upon by the Courts. Tell her you want to support her but don't agree with their methods.

Been there too. It's messy and hard and your friend is upset and hurt.

Like others have said social media is not the place for her to be putting comments on to. She needs a time out and eventually everything will get sorted. She should speak to a lawyer and get it sorted.

I think so long as you shown your support and given advice to her (whether she listens or not is another thing) you have fulfilled your role as a friend.

She'll probably lose a lot of friends the way she is behaving on Facebook, as no one really wants to see that sort of thing.

Central

Arrange a one time meeting with her, away from the kids. Share your concerns and desire to support her and the kids. Close the issue and continue being a great friend.

Posting stuff online about divorces can be bad

Im divorced and avoided the net for ages and certainly didnt comment on situation

Known people who have taken ex partners to solicitors to use it against them

It might cause issues but you should have a word

wrong place to discuss things like that

As it's such an emotional issue and time I would write her a letter.

It's so easy for this kinda discussion to escalate and become heated with both sides saying things they might regret.

Putting it in writing gives you time to think about what you want to say and allows her time to absorb and think about what you say.

Saying you are concerned for her and the children etc

Good luck
