Bloody Nodel

I've just caught a Yodel (Nodel) driver dumping a cardboard box he's supposed to have been delivering outside by my front door and starting to sign for it himself.

FFS he only waited about ten seconds after ringing my doorbell, (and my car is in the drive).

Had I not been in, the delivery would have been ruined had it rained.

Grrrrrr!

I have been coming down my stairs as they knocked, maybe 10 seconds before I could open the door and the bugger was already getting in his van to drive off!

They don't give you much of a chance.

Same, I was at the other end of the hall when the doorbell went.

By the time I got to the door he had already turned away and was starting to sign (presumably my name, the dishonest arse).

It took me, literally, no more than ten seconds to open the door.

Yes. For you. Open up.

It'll stop you making any more spurious claims.

I was at a friends, stood in the garden having a fag, driver knocked, dog barked,(great dane) I heard 'fuck that' and the parcel came flying over the fence and smacked me in the head.

Also had a yodel driver speed up our road, slam the brakes on and reverse fast as had missed the turning opposite and he hit my cat. I won't order from anywhere that uses them!

you all want your parcel delivered yesterday and for nothing what nobody seems to understand is if they want this then the company will have the smallest number of vans delivering the largest number of parcels so this is the inevitable result . drives with 80-120 drops per day that they will have ah to arrange into drop order load and then distribute then on return to depot unload and account for any not delivered all whilst under the watchfull eye of his "driver manager " via the pda . to slow and your jobs gone to quick and they add more drops stop moaning and remember when everything took 28days to be delivered !that cd of the flying pickets live does not need to be delivered next day !!!!

Amazon logistics are nearly as bad

Ordered something from them on Saturday to work thinking they won't deliver it on Sunday

Well what a joke they try to deliver it to an empty office then it gets sent back to Amazon and now I have had to re order - couldn't make it up

Who said I wanted it delivered next day and for nothing?

I wasn't given the option but a week for delivery would have been fine.

I have Amazon Prime but I usually tick the no rush delivery option because where possible I order things before I need them.

I've had my share of moans about delivery drivers, but I feel bad for that.

The fault lies much more with the company itself and what they expect their staff to get through (for peanuts). Some of the conditions they are expected to work under, and the the targets they have to achieve are ridiculous.

I'm not condoning bad practices by the drivers, but I suspect that if I (or many of us) worked for some of these companies, I'd be pretty disillusioned with my life and very stressed. I know people who work for them and it's horrible.

The thing is, I didn't choose the delivery company.

As sorry as I might feel for people with bad working conditions, I bought a product and paid the requested amount for delivery. I have a right for that product to be delivered safely and not left out to be stolen or destroyed by rain, and not to have the courier forge my signature, (thus making it more complicated for me to get a refund or replacement if the order is stolen or damaged).

If I'd chosen the cheapest option from a selection offered, knowing I was choosing Yodel, that might be different, but I didn't.

I think most people would expect a delivery driver to wait longer than 10 seconds for them to get to the door tbh.

The order is worth £50, so not a huge sum but significant if it's stolen or destroyed.

so all your bothered about is your parcel not the fact that you and people like you are causuing these drivers to have to drive work for upto 12 hrs a day in stressfull conditions and heavy traffic which leads to accidents and ill health but dont worry youve got your £50 piece of tat ! amybe we should do away with all these parcel companys and go back to the post office where if you wernt in you had to get of your arse and go and collect your parcel

I tried to watch it on iPlayer, but it wasn't there that day. Three days later I tried again and there was an announcement that it had been on, but I'd missed it and would have to go to the depot to see it.

When you order a parcel you do expect to get ut. Maybe the people you should be aiming your rant at should be the people who employ the couriers instead if you think they are treated badly.

I would be more worried about the money I had spent as well, Item bought, It wouldn't have anything to do with me the working conditions of the driver,

I'm not forcing anyone to do anything.

And yes, whilst (as I said) I feel for anyone with shitty work conditions, my primary concern is my parcel.

I ordered it and paid for it and I'd like it to arrive safely and not be left in the rain by someone deceitfully pretending they delivered it to me.

Anyone delivering parcels should have the integrity to regard them as important, not "tat". They wouldn't have a job at all if not for people buying "tat".

The working conditions are between the employee and the courier company. The choice of courier is down to the company I ordered from. Neither are things I have any say in at all.

Plus, if I've paid for something to be delivered, why should I "get off my arse" and go and collect it?

Oh, and if you bothered to read, I WAS in. He only gave me seconds (literally) to get to the door though and he was going to leave the parcel outside, by the door, whether I was there or not. And lie by forging my signature.

Maybe next time I order something I'll mail the company and tell them not to bother dispatching it in case expecting the delivery driver to show integrity, care about the delivery and do a good job causes them undue stress.

I agree, this is awful service.

We live fortunately live in a consumer society, not 1970's Britain where the customer was wrong and took what was given.

This is a modern economy where the customer demands should quite rightly be met. The answer? Do as another respondent to this post said and don't deal with a company that deals this way.

To be fair, drivers should not have to put up with unreasonable working conditions so if they can't give good service and they feel under pressure as stated then they should GET ANOTHER JOB! There are plenty out there. Also companies bend over backwards to train staff to give good service.

Agreed on all counts.

Companies will take the cheapest quote they can get for deliveries.

If all courier companies gave realistic quotes there would be no problem but they all try to undercut each other to get the business. It's their management that are to blame for the poor working conditions the staff suffer.

I'll avoid poor couriers where I can but very few companies say which company they use when you order.

The situation will only change if the bad courier companies find they can no longer get staff or if companies no longer use them due to customer complaints, (or maybe if someone finds a way to effectively regulate things).

I'll be contacting the company I ordered from to tell them what happened and to let them know I'd be happy with the option of slightly higher delivery prices, or slighly slower delivery services if it means getting a conscientious, reliable service.

Exactly this when ordering something to be delivered you are paying for a service if you're not in then fair enough pick it up from the post office, trouble is very few companies use Royal Mail now so you have no option but to be in as unless you live near the delivery companies depot then you've got no hope in collecting it.

I had that with my local Yodel driver. They chucked the parcel on my front lawn and buggered off before I could sign for it. When I opened the parcel, the remnants of 2 pint glasses spilled out! Very angry telephone call to Yodel head office, and since then have never used them.
