North Herts

Always thought Elvis Presley was somewhat overrated personally, never really did see what the fuss was about....the only two songs of his that I like are A Little Less Conversation (and even then the remixed version from the early 2000's) and Viva Las Vegas.

My aunty was and still is one of his biggest fans so still to this day it breaks her heart that he died on her birthday. I like quite a few of his songs but blue suede shoes always has me singing along

I remember the day Elvis died, my older sister came home in tears, and I asked her "which Elvis? The fat one or the thin one" I was 5, and I thought there were 2 Elvis's the thin one from the film's, and the fat one who sang, she flew into a rage because I said he was fat, and I only made it weorse when I said "your fat too fatty bum bum" I was a little shit lol

Favorite Elvis song, in the ghetto, its still relevant today sadly

West Wales and Cardiff

I do like some Elvis stuff and think he had a great voice.

I find some of his most famous songs a bit too schmaltzy though (and I do like the occasional bit of schmaltz!).

I prefer Candi Staton's "In the ghetto", Willie Nelson "You were always" and Arthur Cudrup "That's Alright Mama".

They just have a bit more soulfulness, for me.

Elvis at his best was great though - that 1968 comeback TV performance when he's just sat with Scotty Moore etc and there's no frills is great.

derby

he was an all round entertainer he could be on stage or in a film and he could change his music round to suit, In full song with guitar in hand singing king creole... or he could be singing In my Room... pardon the pun.

All of them except Wooden Heart. I hate that song not for any particular reason, I just hate it - otherwise Elvis was The King, still is The King and always will be The King.
