Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

GBBO winner, Nadiya Hussain was on Desert Island Discs this morning.

If you didn't hear it I recommend it to you all:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07nng5j

The press has picked up on her saying she accepts she will get racial abuse, as if this is surprising. However, the rest of the interview is much more about just how British she is and her love for her husband and children.

"Will get" or "has got", there is a world of difference.

Fed up since Brexit result the amount of short films, mainly BBC, from remainers saying racist attacks increasing since result but then when local chief of police asked on camera each one has said there has been no increase...cut back to "remainer" who then says well perception is there has been an increase.

World of difference between perception and reality..rant over.

This wasn't about Brexit, per se. It was about being Muslim and female. She also told of 'has got' - as can I. Rant not even begun... but that isn't what this thread is about.

It's about a really good episode of DID with someone who has made a lovely, unusual and sweet impact by baking cakes.

In Lancashire alone:

"Police data released under the Freedom of information Act shows incidents spiked by almost 70 per cent from 154 offences to 259, with racial or religious offences up 80 per cent."

This was on 3rd August.

There's always one!

Did you hear the one a couple of weeks back with the doctor who'd been in Aleppo?

As with Nadiya, the music sucked but the interview was exceptional

Though yeah, I loved it - not my kind of music but she's just so genuinely lovely!

That was great too.

Of recent ones, another favourite was Atul Gawande. I think his work has the potential to really change how we actually behave about dying.

I loved the Tom Hanks and Berry Gordy episodes too.

The story about falling in love with her husband just made me smile like a daft thing.
