Geographical mistakes

Are we the only ones who have spotted the mistake that seems to be happening more and more often of late !!!

We refer to thing's like towns that appear to have moved geographic position.

IE. York posted as in London.

Bolton in the south east.

Glasgow in London.

These are just a few of today's mistakes, the list is longer but We didn't want to bore you to much.

Is this a reflection of the state of our education system ( most mistakes are by under 25's) or just an easy way to spot the fake or time waster profiles

Shrewsbury

It's fab itself that says Shrewsbury is in Wales

Brighton - even Hove!

Oxford is in the south east region. It would take me about 2.5hours to get there due to distance and Heathrow traffic. Hardy conducive to a meet. I wish Fab would be county based so one could choose counties to search for people in. The regions are almost pointless.

In some case's it is site fault, but not in the case of York in London or Belfast being in Scotland, those are people who do not put the right location

Southampton is often listed as in the southeast when it is in the south/southwest,

we use the postcode plus a distance away - works fine for us

even doing post code search's throws up some rather interesting results too, Like if you live in a CO1 post code area and ask to search 50 miles it comes up with places in Kent,Surry.

These are in fact 50 miles away as the crow flies but for us road users the trip is more often 80 or 90 miles as there is a huge river between us that has to be crossed and means detouring as there is no direct route

Variables.

One might live in York, but the phone app records one (with permission) in London.

One might also state that they live in, lets say, Swindon, but they list it as Oxfordshire. The town name you give isn't validated.

Be aware that, a lot of people on here are full of shit. A computer will only ever do what it is told.

At the end of the day, this site is mainly free. It's cheap, at its worst.

Not a problem for me.

we use it to, we are remarking about the profiles that state "York- Greater London" as there location beside their user name, We are not referring to how the site sorts search's, this is done by the profile creator not the site when building their profile

I don't imagine anyone that lives in York actually think they live in Greater London, I have always read it to be that they spend time in both locations so list both

Somerimes people can be in 2 locations, say London during the week for work then home to York at the weekends. There is no Fab facility to put 2 different areas so they work around it this way.

Right up until you live in North Devon. Cardiff, Swansea, South Wales all appear. It's as the crow files... but I ain't no crow!

To be fair, it's a free site, it's fun not stressful x

Problem's caused by we say NE for Newcastle etc and, somewhat bizarrely, NW for places like Blackpool, ergo Grimsby would be east Midlands...okay, I'll fetch me coat
