Hiya ladies,

I had the implant put in a few months a go. My doc has recently given me 6 months to lose weight to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol or I have to go on medication. So for the last 3 weeks I have been exercising regularly ie powerwalking/jogging for 45 mins 4 days a week. I have also cut out bread, potatoes, crisps, chocolate, biscuits etc. I am eating salads, veg, fresh fruit, fat free youghurts, fresh fruit etc. I have only lost 3lb's. I am so frustrated as last time I did this acouple of years ago Iost about 10lb's in the first 3 weeks.

I am now wondering if it is the implant as I know for some people they put weight on with it! I am seriously considering having it removed now. Thoughts and experiences would be most gratefully received

Whenever you diet etc never rely on the scales. Take measurements too. As most of the times when the scales stops moving you start to put on muscle and tone instead. So instead of losing weight you tone.

Good luck with it all and keep at it.

The implant alone won't make you put weight in

It will make weight gain easier when on it

A lot of birth control will increase appetite so you'll eat more which will make you gain weight

But if your eating a healthy diet there is no reason why you shouldn't loose weight

Though 1 to 2 pound a week is considered a healthy weight loose so thought I understand you'd like more 3 pound in 3 week medically is considered a normal/good weight loss

The issue is that the scales have barely moved and I know my body and like I said when I did this before I had lost 10lbs at this stage. I tend to plateau at a about a month which is why I am wondering if the implant is having a negative effect x

"OP has your thyroid been checked and do you have PCOS?"

I have wondered about my thyroid, but no it hasnt been checked. I have not been diagnosed with PCOS.

Although I have been in and out of hospital with ovarian cysts over the last 12 to 18 months. However general concensus is that was due to the coil which is why I had the implant instead.
