I liked it when Brendan Foster said that probably the only way he won't win this is if he falls over, about 2 laps before he did

"Just home. Did Mo win gold?"

of course!!! got tripped in the first 5k but back up quickly and smashed it!!!

Seemed very emotional as he did his lap of honour trying to find his family and then in his inter_iew afterwards. it meant a lot to him.

Still needs another one for his son! bring on the 5k!

I think she always looks better when she's not actually running.

I did the 5k fun run at the Olympic Stadium (or West Ham's grounds now) last year and she was running back and forth to cross the finish line with as many people as possible.

Beach volleyball - the only sport where there's a maximum size of costume/ outfit for women

It's ridiculous! The men are wearing shorts down to their knees.

It was nice to see as the chinese guy went down on a knee and proposed to his gf at the pool for all to see and she said yes.

I don't think there is anymore. There used to be but the Egyptian team had a player wearing an active wear nijab (I think that is what it was bit she was certainly all covered up)

I do stand corrected on the"urban myth "

Up until the 2012 Olympics female volleyball players were obliged to wear bikinis (with the lower part no more than 7cm from top to bottom at the hip) or a one-piece swimming costume - a rule which some regarded as a transparent attempt to make the sport sexy.

.

The Australian Sports Commission complained that the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the sport's governing body, had "introduced uniforms intentionally to focus attention on the athletes' bodies rather than for any technological, practical or performance-enhancing reasons".

But since 2012 the rules have allowed women to wear shorts, long-sleeve shirts and body suits. British weather drove the Brazilian team, among others, to take up the full body-cover option.

Egypt's Doaa Elghobashy, however, is the first Olympian beach volleyball player to wear a hijab as well though, thanks to a last-minute concession from the FIVB just in time for the Rio Olympics.

She sounded so excited on the radio earlier.

I also want Jack Laugher to do well diving later.

to be honest for years I never bothered with the games till London 2012, I was in London at the time and loved every thing about it , this year ever better because it is the away games and we are doinf well , the investement of cash over the years has been for me worth every penny , long may it last and may many more young people get into sport ,

Sorry Venus Williams and Serena Williams have 4 singles olympic titles each... making that 2 x 4 x 4 = 32 years they have been competing in the olympics?

No they each have a single olympic gold medal in singles and 3 each in doubles. Andy Murray is the only tennis player to have defended his olympic singles title... just saying

Absolutely, success breeds success, confidence, self belief.

Imagine how much better we could be had football not had all the money that's been thrown at it and the money distributed to other sports instead.

Loving how much the French and German's etc..

Are moaning about the cycling.

Look they didn't like it after Beijing or London

So they changed the rules and events to spread the medals more evenly, Gb stick to all the rules layed down by the IOC and everything is above board and we still head and shoulders above the rest.

It's simple we target the Olympics simple.

Peak on a four year cycle for a five day period, nothing is left to chance.

Meticulous training and preparation.

We are just currently more effective at this.

It won't last forever but long may it last.

Pretty sure they will try to stop us competing or limit the events any single country can enter.

Basically throwing their toys out of the pram and stamping feet until they get their own way.

I remember the bad old day's.

I prefer the current situation thanks

the thing is that the brits are basically being accused of throwing loads more money at cycling than other countries..... and that is what they see the advantage is...

the thing that the brits have done is basically brought science to cycling.... the change of the types of helmets, the skin suit.. and then the all in one variety skin suit.... in conjunction with aston martin and jaguar to bring in both aerodymnamics for bikes... and aero for riding positions... and so on....

the rest of the world have always been one step behind......

the same accusations were made of rowing... and then the world finally caught up....

that the other nations especially those questioning GB's success failed to work out that as in London the cycling team would peak again in Rio and to be at their best etc and whatever the outcome accept it then that's down to them..
