Ok I have a zero hour contract am claiming job seekers allowance thoigh now.

If I work 11 hours a week I still get job seekers my sister said I will lose 20 percent but keep rest and wages now is this true or not as a advisor told me you keep first 5 but rest is taken and I need to pay rent and more council tax.

If the advisor is correct I am a lot worse of working but told you can not be worse off.

Pretty sure your allowed to work 16 hours a week. I think this because a guy that I work with will only work 16 hours, no more.if asked to stay on till 9, (10 hour shift) he refuses as it takes him over the 16 hour threshold. The guy still gets benefits, and anything over he would get them stopped.

Like I said, I'm not 100% on this. Best thing to do is ask at local jobcentre or citizen advice place.

I however work minimum 40 hours a week n claim no benefits. (usually a lot more than 40 hours on average)

Can you not get more hours OP?

That would negate the concern over benefits vs hours!

Cheers I would love to work 40 hours a week but in the line of work I do I would probably be dead.

What do you do????

I just had a quick look online & it's a bit of a minefield tbh. I would say though, between 16-20hrs would be your cut off as that seems to be the same for most benefits

Mine are all nights. Don't wanna do them but not much else out there. Can't afford to go to a zero hour contract, but would love to have more time off. I've done a solid month in work without days off. Does make u feel ill though after a bit

Pretty sure the limit is 16 hours. It annoys me that I struggle to get time off work as this guy is and only willing to work 16 hours a week, which means I can only get 2 days a week off.
