I'm having a rant today as I really don't want to go to work as I hate my boss

He treats everyone like shite and constantly shouting abuse for no reason whatsoever

I'm actually suprised I've given him 10 years of my time

If I could think of some kind of sarcasm or nastiness back to him and get away with it I would

Anyone got a job

Lol

Sorry. Just needed to get that out

When you supply them with a reality check (let them know what the staff think of him) they might just change their attitude.

I used to work for a company where the boss was constantly angry at everyone, moral was so low, I've since moved to a new job and for the past 2 years I've never been so happy to work.

google search employment law. Get everyone else to do it too. You can guarantee he'll be seeing what everyone's looking at anyway! Put the shitters up him!

I can't get the rest of the staff to side with me as its a family run business and they are shit scared of him

I usually answer back and I'm trying to stay cool as I don't want to be on his level

Just don't know how much longer I can put up with this as I would call it bullying and harrassment

Well if it's bullying and harassment, you CAN do something about it.

Don't be frightened of him.

Midlands

Get some legal advice (free from CAB) as you should be able to get a significant payout for constructive dismissal and find yourself a new job.

This. Don't put up with it. There is advice on the Acas site. All of you should get together on this. It's because of Bullying bosses like this that Trade Unions were formed. Are you in one? If not join one, ask others to join, give yourselves a collective voice.

Don't answer back at him. I used to do this with my old Supervisor and it was what he wanted. Fuel to the fire and all that. So I started just smiling and getting on with my work through gritted teeth. Took a bloody lot but he soon got bored and realised I wouldn't bite

Unfortunately bullying in itself isn't against the law unless it's aimed at you because of sex, sexual preference, disability or racial! Stupid I know

Harassment is also very difficult to prove unless you have support.

All you can do is rise above it or stoop to his level. Either that or get him on his own and question him about his behaviour towards you.

If he treats his family differently to you then you can do something about it (I can't spell what it's called but I'm sure someone can?)

I had problems a few weeks ago and wrote an official letter of grievance to my boss and they have to do something about it.

Good luck op. 10 years service should mean something to these people!!!

My idea is to ask for a private discussion today cos I'm pissed off with it

As for finding other work....it's not that easy as I've been looking for ages

I have read up on things I could do and the best thing I think is to stay calm and not let him break me

Fingers crossed

Doesnt make his actions right but you will find family run businesses are also a close knit community where they can stand up to each other.. in saaying that 10 years is a long time to do nothing about it.. why not find another job
