Trolling.. whyyyyyy!? :-(

For someone to deliberately go out of their way to cause upset or anger.. be it in forums (not necessarily the Fab forums as I think many are polite.. but in general) or from random private messages.. it's such a bizarre thing to do I can't get my head round it!

I watched a programme a while ago about this bloke who blatantly bullied and harassed a woman to make her feel miserable. He succeeded and showed absolute no remorse when he was identified, saying he'd do it again and also to others.

It's got to be one of the shittiest human traits going to want to upset people for your own amusement.

Rant over. (The trolls got to me)

I'd say of course they know they are trolls, it's the way they get their kicks (sadly)

Have a good cry or what ever would make you feel better and dust yourself off and say fuck it to them.

I think some like you mentioned in post, know, and do it deliberately. Some it's just frustration at not getting what they want so act like a spoilt brat.

Some wouldn't say boo to a goose in real life and just get carried away with no thought to the upset they can cause.

I'm pretty thick skinned at it rarely bothers me, but it worries me raising a kid in this day and age.

It's a pernicious form of sadism as they don't choose willing participants. They make me laugh most of the time (when they attempt to do it to me, I don't find their pathetic bullying of others humorous, obviously!). Smack a Troll should be a thing.

It's usually done by people who have low self esteem and putting others down makes them feel good about themselves

Wise words indeed. Every now and then those sneaky trolls manage to break into the bubble. Suppose it's just a case of swatting them with a fly swat immediately.

Years ago i had a guy do it to me on a chat site. I could always block him after the first message but not the first. Utter bile he would spit out. Anyway i messaged him back one day and was nice to him. I kept chatting to him and got to find out loads about his life. So i found out what a pathetic life he had. So as far as i was concerned it might make them feel better for a few minutes but it wont take away their shit lives

Yeah I was just talking mainly about Trolling in general really but what triggered me to be all boo hoo about it was some private messages I got. I very naively chose to respond on a really nice manner and it just fed into it.

But was more thinking just in general really.

Eg

You now can't read a you tube videos comments without them inevitably having someone who purposely rubs people up the wrong way.. in a pathetically hurtful way. They say things to cause upset for others and take satisfaction out of being "blocked" as they know they've irritated the person to having to react. It's such strange behaviour.

Everyone's right in that it's obviously some self loathing / lack of control weird issues they have but it's very annoying how it has to impact others. Any troll out there would be jizzing in their pants right now if they observed how much of a reaction they (the trolls collectively) have received!

Thankfully, it seems at least the majority of folk on here are cool as f*ck!

I just think such people are life's losers deeply unhappy with how their life turn out so they try to make others feel as they do .

I'm sure I saw a study somewhere about teenagers who troll other teenagers and it turn out those doing the trolling where deeply unhappy themselves .

So like I said adults doing this are just deeply unhappy individuals and when you look at them like that its very ease to just ignore there comments thinking I feel sorry for you because I know your deeply unhappy and far far worse off then me .

I made the school boy mistake of engaging with a troll - so I guess it was my mistake.

I realised:

1. You can never reason / argue with a troll. Their _iews and reasoning behind wanting to cause upset are either too set in stone or they're too thick / ignorant.

2. Not responding or taking them on in any way is definitely the way forward.

3. I'm hungry!! (just realised this now and struggled to come up with a valid third point troll related.. would be strange to have numbered my points in the first place if only going for 2 points.. thus this third irrelevant point).
