More tourist help, please

Marc and I are going down south for a club night (yay!!) and I've been trying to think of some non-touristy tourist stuff to see while we are down there. We've been a few times now so the obvious places have already been visited.

We are going to be in Devon, but I'll take any suggestions in the area since we'll be driving through a good chunk of it on the way down anyway.

Thanks for your help in advance

-Courtney

I would stop off by a field and go tickling a Devon pixie. Elusive and tricksie but well worth the effort.

Failing that, find a lovely village and have a cream tea.

I've had a cream tea before but I dont like cream so I just put jam all over. I'll look for a pixie...sounds like it could be fun

Dartmoor sounds like a great idea, thanks! We drove through there last time but didn't really have time to walk around.

Well, you might want to stop there for a few ... weeks. Its quite big. There are lots of sheep and cows.

Actually, it is wonderful but not really the place for a quick stop.

Isn't that England though?

Central

Some gorgeous gardens to visit in the summer. Most do cream teas minus the cream of course.

If you ventured to Cornwall you could see the Eden project too.

But lovely seaside towns would swing it for me.

Our route depends on what touristy things we decide on, really. So it's pretty open. I'm looking to gather ideas and plan from there.

We saw the Eden project when we were last in Cornwall. But I think seaside towns and some long walks could be great fun.

If you're North Devon way, Appledore, Bideford, etc and like good ice cream, keep an eye out for a Hockings van or shop. Absolutely effing delicious!

Up on them there hills

Odd isn't it, I like visiting great places. However the terrorists, sorry tourists in the local town drive me crazy.

Saying that, an oriental couple asking were. Nora Batty lives is quite amusing.

Thanks!! We went to Dartmouth when we were last down south. It was great, too. There were some really lovely English heritage sites we visited. Might be worth a second look

Crop circle headquarters? Can you like take your own designs in like you would at a tattooist? Maybe have a small one in an inconspicuous part of a field to see if you like it?

The poppies from London are at the Castle

If you're coming down the A1 we've got all the Sir Isaac Newton stuff here and there's Belvoir (pronounced Beaver) Castle which is a proper fairytale one
