Your current weight

I've just had a huge shock and wake up call after hiding from the scales for quite some time.

I knew I'd gained (due to ill health, inactivity and being in and out of hospital) but I was really shocked to find out just how much !

Although in the big scale of things I'm happy to be alive and kicking I'm now feeling fat, miserable and the heaviest I've ever been in my life. Time to take serious action for me.

My question is, are you happy at your current weight ? Are you at your heaviest, lightest etc.

Nope, a good stone/stone and a half over where I should be. I can happily ignore what the scales tell me; however, photos from a brilliant girly weekend in Blackpool tell a very different story. This wench has accumulated rather too much timber of late. Bother, this means hard work. Hurrumph.

Truth be told i used to suffer depression (i say used too.. i still do but i have more ups than downs these days)..

was in denial about my looks for a very very long time and never faced things on head on. Id take photo's that were not realistic and it gave me terrible anxiety over the truth. Made meeting people from FAB impossible and the reality was i was portraying myself as a fake. I was attracted to them, but they were attracted to the idea of me and the image of deceit i put out there.

I felt crap about myself through the own lies i told..

Now its a way of keeping in check.. im not lying, im self shaming and i hope that i will never ever be that large again.

Also recognition of how well i have done so far on this epic journey and all the struggles.

Dont get me wrong im not far into this weight loss thing.. still only 3 stone down.. but all the 'well dones' along the way help.

Diamondsmiles who posted above in this thread has done phenomenally well and was kind enough to share her experiences with the forum and showed me before and after images. Talking to people really does help. So although you got on those scales and found it a shock, draw the line,, today is a new day :D

BMI was never meant for that purpose.

If BMI is trusted then many top sports competitors are obese such as rowers, rugby players and boxers.

the heaviest i weighed was 15 and a half stone, i blame my hubby for bringing home cakes all the time and i was the only one who liked them all and he told me off for giving them away so i ended up eating a box or two every day. I then lost 2 and a half stone a few years ago at the moment i weigh about 14 stone which is too heavy. After my son was born when i was 19 i weighed 9 stone, i wasnt bothered about eating then.

I'm not happy at my current weight. Ideally I want to lose at least a half a stone, maybe a bit more. That's the weight I should be. Hopefully I can tone-up significantly whilst I'm at it as well. Over the last month or so I'm cut out a lot of rubbish in my diet and have started exercising more, so that should help.

For the most of us BMI works, i think common sence tells us those it does not work for

If i got on thr scales it would work for me and around 95% of the rest of the population

Looks and body image can fluctuate and change, but if we dont adapt and grow as individuals and learn from experience is there any point?

Confidence in my physical appearence will take time and i need to learn to accept that and be happy within myself before i could expect someone else to 'love' me..

However through my struggles i have become mentally stronger and came out the other side better for it..

Concentrate on the inner beauty,, it always shines through

I am actually the heaviest and biggest I have ever been. Clothes I bought two months ago don't fit and I think that's what made me realise.

It was just a lot of comfort eating whilst studying. The stress of graduating got to me I guess and I just ate all day long.

I have a wedding coming up where I am a bridesmaid so I need to lose the weight. The other bridesmaid is all of the size of one of my thighs can't be dealing with that!!

Happy with my weight but not with my mummy tummy!!! Problem is in order to loose the tummy I need to loose weight which in turn will mean loosing weight all over and I don't want to do that as in pretty happy with the rest of my body.

A couple of years ago I weighed over 11 stone and a very uncomfortable size 14. I hated myself. I took up walking and lost 2 stone in 2 months.

I was at my heaviest earlier this year weighing at 11st 9, I dropped to 11st 3, have just weighed myself now & I've gained 4 1/2 lbs.(the result of holidays)

I'm not happy with my current weight but I am happy with my lifestyle which includes nice food & drink.

I've pretty much dieted on / off nearly all my adult life so I don't really want to go down the SW / WW route again.

I'm now off for 2 weeks so I'm going to kick start my excercise plan by going to the gym daily & cutting down on my food portions.

I think it might be easier in terms of meets knowing exactly what to expect up front. I have a detailed description in my profile, (when it's on show), but previous body pics have been in a lace dress or a babydoll.

There is the risk it will attract more abusive messages though. Some guys can't pass by if they don't like what they see, they have to say so.

Nearly 17st. I get myself so depressed about my inability to control my food that I'm now concentrating more on exercise ( yes I've tried not putting pressure on myself and not eating to excess but still having treats. I always break and binge from even that!). I'm fairly limited because I have M.E. and Fibromyalgia but when I am well enough I make the most of it. Two weeks ago I couldn't manage 5 minutes on the bike at the gym yet yesterday I biked 5 miles! Frustrating thing is that next week I might be back to barely being able to complete 2 minutes! It's so unpredictable so it's impossible to ever actually build up on previous workouts! Still, I do what I can when I can.

"Nearly 17st. "

I can completely sympathise with the unpredictable I'll health. It sounds very similar to me. I never know what kind of day I'll have until I wake up. I have to say though you look nowhere near 17 stone !

I lost 4 stone about 4 years ago and was able to maintain it well. Did wonders for my confidence. I've put half a stone on recently which I'm not best pleased about but I'm not in the right mindset to do anything about it!

Plus Will has taught me to love my curves - as many people have said above, if people don't like curvy and want to make me feel bad then I'll pass thank you. Will loves me for who I am, my curves are part of me - if I lost a lot of weight he'd go mad!

Nope, am pretty much same as you, ill-health for last two years, in out of hospital, reduced activity, used to run 3 times a week.

You don't need to lose weight to tone your mummy tummy.

Try sit-ups, abs/core exercises if you can.

Perso I can't because I still have a gap from the pregnancies but if you can do that that's the way to go.

Look on youtube, you can do the exercises at home

I think I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I think I weigh between 15 1/2 and 16 stone.

I've not weighed myself for a few months though; I don't make a habit of it.

I'm also the happiest I've ever been with my body and self confidence.

This is a gentle reminder, OP, that your worth and beauty as a person is not related to the number on the scales or the clothes label. Embrace your body, the word "fat" is not a synonym for "bad", "ugly", or "lazy".

*hugs*

Personally I think the focus shouldn't necessarily be on weight loss. Diets alone never work. There has to be some kind of fitness. Keep on the exercise and the weight will sort itself out.

I'm lucky (sort of) that I've a frequent fitness test I need to pass. I can see where I need work and gauge where I am quite readily for whatever it is I've got coming up.

Maybe have your own fitness test. Record your results and go from there.

But like I said don't just let it be about diet and weight loss.

You are awesome

And I meant for being so open about things it is quite inspiring. X

No I'm not happy with my weight.

After two kids in two years, spending both pregnancies with severe pelvic girdle pain (so piled on the weight during pregnancy) and then looking after a disabled child and being left with sciatica and back problems, I haven't been able to do anything about it - Time-wise OR what I can physically do with manageable pain.

Both sets of grandparents will hopefully be able to step in now that they're retired so I can try and go swimming 1-2 times a week.

I will definitely be happy once the kids start nursery though and I can get moving more!

I don't own scales any more as i used to have an eating disorder and was obsessed with my weight to the point it was getting dangerous my ribs stuck out my hip bones stuck out, I actually thought I looked good! I would never finish a plate of food, never snack and was down to one meal a day then I got pregnant (although not really sure how as i thought I had stopped ovulating).

After having my lil man I now have curves in all the right places and although I'm not 100% happy I don't obsess and I'm pretty careful with what I eat ( I now snack and have at least two meals a day and usually finish the plate) and I walk alot and run about with the little one. And hubby thinks I'm a hell of a lot sexier now (he used to say that before I gained weight it was like fucking a skeleton).

I'm about 10 lbs heavier than I would like to be, but I eat well, walk a lot and am in the healthy weight range for my height, so I try not to stress about it.

My weight fluctuates about 7 lbs with my monthly cycle, unfortunately the weight gain coincides with the low mood of pms, so I tend to feel shit before a period.

11st 10 at the moment, which is the lightest I have ever been. A couple of stone to go still but I was 16st 9 when I decided to do something about it so it's not bad when you consider the context. 9 stone 6lbs (BMI 21.3) ... I always say as long as I feel comfortable in all my clothes it doesn't matter what the scales say but we're going on holiday in 2 weeks time and I'd hoped to be 9 stone to give myself a little leeway for stuffing myself with ice cream! My plan of going to the gym over the next few weeks is to kick start my levels, find something I like doing & can stick too

You know what? Good for you! That's exactly what I was getting at. And it doesn't take long. In 3 weeks on average you'll notice a difference in yourself. In 3 months you'll be a totally different person. In all sincerity I wish you the very best of luck. "

Thank you

I can't say I've publicly declared my weight before

in the last 6/8 months i have gained well over a stone n although everyone keeps saying i look great with some meat on me n my partner loves my boobies n bum (was a tiny size 6/8 now a good size 10/12) due to a lifetime of horrendous self image thats caused eating disorders in the past i feel like a horrible lump most of the time n now i hate dressing down at clubs n having to fake it to make it coz of my warped thinking just wish i could accept my bloody body as being ok for my age

"I have to lose 30 kilos. That's a small child I'm carrying around "

I've lost 16kg this year so far, (well more, actually but I've regained a little in the last couple of months), and I still have 28kg to lose.

It is a lot when thinking about it in those terms. Scary.

I try to think about it terms of small goals because otherwise it seems like a monumental task.

I am the lightest I've been in 5/6 years and altho I feel fat and in my eyes and bigger then when I weighed more...i am still in similar size clothes but my curves are diff the last lot of weight I lost my boobs grew (they usually deflate) but fab has me feeling mire sexy than I've ever felt guys seem to dig the ass and curvy bits that has always put men in the street off even looking at me when me and people walk through town was always the others they look ag. Now I walk through town head held high thinking I prob had more interest in guys off fab and been shown a bloody good time than that poor excuse for a perv has staring in the street and nit in a negative way but jst in the sence that I'm different...i have a great pair of boobs and as long as they like them and the feel of my pussy...i dont cade about hoe I look much anymore....as for my weight

I've struggled with my weight for years since ballooning as a kid. The best diet to ever work for me...eat what I want when I want and not care....the weight fell off for the first time in years ove rthe space of a year I lost a couple of stone and altho in mu eyes I look and feel no diff in terms in still fat...the scales say I'm the lightest I've been xxx be happy in ur own skin and say to itself if I die tomorrow this is the body i have and yes it could be better

There was a story in the paper and it made me think...a women was granted a wish...she wished to be weighed less. She lost her legs in an explosion when she questioned the wish the wish granter explained....u asked to weigh less,u now weigh less.

Made me think....

Sharp shock when weighing myself back in April. Decided that was it.

I'm loving getting leaner.

Been out cycling and using outdoor gym, swimming too.

I've lost 26 pounds so far by following the recipes from Slimming World.

Another few pounds to go and I'll be at target weight.

I'm the heaviest I've ever been at the moment and i hate it. I'm 13 st. That's heavier than i was when i was pregnant

It doesn't suit me and i really want to do something about it but i like food and drink too much....i just need a kick up the backside...

Two years ago I got diagnosed with Celiac---- I was so ill I went from a healthy size 12 down to a size 6 in a matter of months and as someone whow always wished to be thinner, the reality was horrible--- no curves and no boobs!!!!!

Glad to say that im now so much better and have put on weight and got some of my curves back--- even if they are now all in the wrong place lol

Somewhere around 12st 10lb I think.

I say I think because after losing a huge amount of weight.. 17st 10lb..I found I was constantly chasing it and even though I was becoming more and more active i started to go to more extreme lengths to lose weight with some quite bad effects such as collapsing and black outs.

I haven't weighed myself in three years now and just go by the fit of my clothes etc and have decided that I will never buy a larger pair of jeans again.

I must admit that I'm very happy with my body and weight these days and I'm more interested in the improvements I've made as opposed to how far from perfection I am.

"I was a stone lighter last Xmas, and was happy at that, doing my best to get back to that

Your healths more important, hope your OK

I'm ok thank you. I'll always have my condition but I feel very well now. I guess that's why the weight has become an issue as I feel more like my usual self lately. Every cloud. X"

Similarly to you OP, I have a chronic illness and have been poorly on and off this year. Now I'm in a position where I will be unwell until I get an organ transplant, in the mean time my weight is all over the place. Not hugely over weight by any means. But definitely bigger than I'm used to and that makes me uncomfortable

No not at all happy I'm not the heaviest I've ever been but still far to heavy.

I got to a happy weight then became I'll and put it all the weight I'd lost back on. It's not really about the numbers in Wright it's how I feel I look. I would like some type of body tone/ figure or at least a tummy I can see over.
