Anyone noticed how they do that?

Private jokes thrown around, ignore what other people say and just flood thread with their private conversations lol

Like the group that thinks their cool in the playground at school that all end up working at tescos on the night shift

Hahah (no doubt sarky comments will ensue)

If any normal forum users want to get something off their chest about the forums on here please go ahead !

Apart from that, im loving fab and meeting loads of awesome people.

Ah you shouldn't have removed it or maybe re write it in a slightly different way & re post it.

I've said on numerous occasions I think the forums can be clicky & the bloody cake reference thing that was banded around a while ago used to make me want to....aaarrggggh!!!

I think it comes & go, at the moment with regular posters away it feels different & it's nice to see some new people that otherwise would possibly go un noticed

I'd like to think I'm a normal forum poster. Well more normal than some. Some are just out there crazy, they're cool cats none the less.

Op...I hope your day gets better, maybe sport a sandwich board offering free hugs? I hear hugging strangers is good for the soul, your mood and general well being. Failing that...hit the Ben and Jerrys, pull up your girly pants, sit back and watch made in Manhattan

I'm still curious as to who is in the "clique" nobody ever answers me.

I don't take much notice tho tbh I just respond to the thread/post of it interests me irrespective of who wrote it.

There will always be banter between people that know each other.

I like how the forums are currently. Feels clique-less and lots of new people.

Its not essentially the clickyness. . Thats bound to happen.

Its the being rude to people and having their crony mate team up on someone. . Both of them are losers with loser jobs. No doubt why they attempt to look 'tough' on a forum.

Feel sorry for them really. . .this is all they have lol

Agreed. Clique or not, keyboard warriors will always be that. I read the posts and respond on the ones I am interested in. No bother sweating the rest. If a thread is hijacked I simply back up and read another one. There isn't much point getting my nose out of joint. Life is too short to be mithered by something so trivial after all.

The problem is a lot of people on here are sarcastic and it doesn't come across when you type, I think sometimes this can cause an issue on the forums as one persons sarcasm is another persons insult.

Cliques are nothing new with Internet forums, and it's going to be even worse with swinging. I try not to let it bother me and not fall into the trap of being bitter towards them in return.

Although, I do find it particularly frustrating when advice threads are hijacked by those wanting to display their acid wit with facetious/sarcastic remarks.

I think I've only seen that happen on the single men wanting profile advice thread. But there's always at least 1 post advising them to forum search. Folk just get bored of writing out the same thing over and over. Especially as it's often ignored anyway.

In seriousness though there are a number of people on here that have been active in the forums for a long time and obviously do know each other, so they're bound to have little private jokes and references, and you'll see them commenting very frequently on posts.

There are also some sarcastic folk who can make comments as jokes and they can come across wrong to people who don't know them.

There are also, inevitably, some people who are just arseholes.

All part and parcel of the great wide wonder web

in defence of the OP i actually do get what they are saying....

sometimes the "in jokes get too bad where a new person doesn't always get them... and it can look like a small group mentality...

and sometimes the flirting, whoever is the new flavor of the month is, get so bad it does make me cringe and i think "that should be taken to pm"... its almost territory marking....

sometimes i think it would just take a couple of seconds just to understand what you are writing, people don't need to change it drastically.... but it is just an awareness....

Winding someone up that gives purposefully condesending 'look at me im so popular and special' comments especially when they dont read the posts and reply to something that hasnt been said.

Ok, quite glad the original post had been deleted. OP, seriously, you're being flipping rude.

I've been on the forum, what? Three weeks maybe? I haven't seen any evidence of high school style cliques. I've seen people who've known each other years having a laugh and a giggle and, where I understand, I've giggled along. Otherwise, I've just been getting involved.

We're like the new guys at work. We're not going to understand the in jokes and dynamics between the older members of staff. We weren't there. We haven't developed the relationships yet.

Does that mean you sit in the breakroom, rolling your eyes and complaining loudly and semi-ironically to the other new peeps about how 'lame' the older members of staff are with their jokes no one else understands, their anecdotes you don't get and their light flirting?

Naaaw...you go sit down with 'em, have a laugh and at some point you'll be there. You'll be part of the joke. Unless you're a bit of a tool

Keep posting sensible/logical posts like that and you'll be fastracked to the clique, pronto! You'll be done for then, talked about no end.

Lol sensible posts?

Being condesending and saying 'dont worry if your post doesnt get replies'

Haha thats wasnt even mentioned as an issue. Merely inserted by user to make them sound good against the person they are replying to.

Embarrassing."

Waay too serious OP, this is an hilarious thread, belly laughs galore.

Not necessarily get on well but have the same outlook on life and post on the same threads a lot. I have seen people make snipey, sarcastic comments to people they haven't met,yet treat the people they have met with nothing but sweetness and light;even though the two people said very similar things. I'd hate for someone to feel they couldn't put me in my place just because we have met,or are online "friends".

Boom!

A good sunday morning.

So you are just trolling ?

Trolling would be annoying someone that doesnt deserve it.

Winding someone up that gives purposefully condesending 'look at me im so popular and special' comments especially when they dont read the posts and reply to something that hasnt been said.

I think its fine to knock them off their high horse.

No one was being condescending. You are just rude.

Maybe at times. . In response to condesending remarks that had nothing to do with any points made.

Maybe you shud read posts instead of scanning them quickly like most do."

"Ah you shouldn't have removed it or maybe re write it in a slightly different way & re post it.

I don't agree with the pack of baying wolves mentality that's wrong but so is using a forum thread to ger back at someone, is that what this is about OP?

No i havent been attacked or anything. . Just twice in last week i was reading some posts and saw on 2 occasions this happen.

What annoyed me was that the clicky people thought they were so cool demeaning someone.

I just hate to see horrible people enjoying themselves at other peoples expense.

"

Some people just clash - it's human nature. Like office politics (yes I have an office job!!). I wouldn't intentionally be rude to someone but the written word can sometimes be misconstrued.

I've only just discovered the Forums and I've been enjoying the chat and banter. I've only had a few sarcastic comments which I don't take personally; we all have the right to an opinion.

I think a simple solution if you are not enjoying the fun, and sometimes whacky topics.... Avoid it, don't post and don't comment

OP, i hear you.i would just like to make a few points about the forum, that ive noticed since ive been around...

there are several types of threads but ill concentrate on the difference between a hosted thread and a posting thread..

a posting thread is where someone posts an original post, lets people run with it..like a kiss fuck avoid or a fab. occasionally that person may post in the thread again, but not necessary.

then there are the hosting threads, the morning thread, for example where the op, does there very best while present to answer each and every comment made by everyone.

having for many months been a co host of the nocturnal roll call thread ( i cannot do this any more for various reasons) the thread has the purpose of bringing a group of people together, being inclusive, welcoming new and old alike and getting better acquainted through whatever commonality the posters have.

to me the second type of post, the hosted, fosters community if done in a conscientious way. it has led to socials and friendships forming beyond the thread.

sometimes these threads can seem like a clique to the forum new people, really its only down to the op whether they are the first type of thread or the second though.

depends n the agenda, if its an inclusive one, everyone will be answered, included and made to feel welcome..if they are just after some banter with their buddies they can ignore anyone they wish, and so can anyone else...this is what gives the inside outside vibe.

i have withdrawn from hosting threads mainly because i dont have the time for hosting them properly ( to me that means answering and including everyone who posts) i miss the times when i could put in that much effort and see the community/ friendships and connections between people grow. its fun. but guaranteed if i was to start one, with this form of hosting, it would be popular because people like to communicate with others, now to someone who doesnt know me or my intention with the thread, that could look as if it was a clique..but its not..its a friendship group and new people get so well integrated quickly within it, that anyone from the outside, would say they are 'part of' it. it doesnt look as if there are any new people at all posting..although the regular people would know that there are..

the forums can be a mine field but thay are also full of dynamic personal histories all interwoven with a commonality that we all want to interrelate with each other..each individual has the power to decide how to do that..so heres to more happy inclusive times on the forums and may your experience continue to improve and bring you joy x

"(Usually) single blokes trying to circumvent the filters so hijack threads to flirt. Egos get massaged. Other females get jealous so join in, at times you feel like a voyeur and want to tell them to get a room!

All fun and games!

sometimes the "in jokes get too bad where a new person doesn't always get them... and it can look like a small group mentality...

and sometimes the flirting, whoever is the new flavor of the month is, get so bad it does make me cringe and i think "that should be taken to pm"... its almost territory marking....

sometimes i think it would just take a couple of seconds just to understand what you are writing, people don't need to change it drastically.... but it is just an awareness.... "

There are those on the site that use it to fuck, those that use it to find people to talk to & fuck & those that just talk due to various reasons some out of their control.

Just decide where you want to play, If in the forums grow another layer of skin & get on with it..

We did & find it great fun & tbh a Much better way of getting what you want rather than endless messages to someone you just know will go nowhere..(Oh shit guys, did I just give away the forums secret? Ooops)..

Just have fun with them, who the FCK cares it's the bloody internet for gawds sake! Yes sometimes it appears a thread gets ambushed but instead of bleating about it peeps should put it back on the straight & narrow it's not hard to do.

If you see the forum as a group of mates sitting in a pub how often do you just get one subject running? Never! They'll be bods talking across each other, talking louder to the guy at the otherside of the table etc. I see the forums as no different tbh.

Just remind yourself how important it is by listening to the theme song from 3rd rock to the sun!!

With love from fellow newbies

There will always be indignation from people and cliques shouted out.

Usually from people who have created threads ranting about the behaviours of others. When their own is pointed out or they can use the site tools to improve their experience, that is deemed clique behaviour.

Or they go huffy and say they won't post again

A very interesting read this thread, I've learnt that negativity attracts negativity, we are all human after all, the forum is a public place, if you're gunna have a pop at anything then prepare for a bombardment of comments both agreeing and disagreeing with you, the worst thing you can do is take any comment personally, I've been attacked many times over the years in the forums, I've learnt to ignore it these days though as some people who choose to personally attack you get some sort of pleasure from it.

Don't react to them, easier said I know.

I'm in the forums most days as I enjoy the banter and would be the first to stick up for a newbie if saw bullying and I haven't

Plenty of banter and the odd knob that posts to get a reaction but nothing purely aimed at newbies

"There will always be indignation from people and cliques shouted out.

Usually from people who have created threads ranting about the behaviours of others. When their own is pointed out or they can use the site tools to improve their experience, that is deemed clique behaviour.

Or they go huffy and say they won't post again"

"in defence of the OP i actually do get what they are saying....

sometimes the "in jokes get too bad where a new person doesn't always get them... and it can look like a small group mentality...

and sometimes the flirting, whoever is the new flavor of the month is, get so bad it does make me cringe and i think "that should be taken to pm"... its almost territory marking....

sometimes i think it would just take a couple of seconds just to understand what you are writing, people don't need to change it drastically.... but it is just an awareness.... "

I'm still relatively new , I read a lot and post a bit , but like Fabio I can see what the OP is saying not sure it's a clique but there are a few who will answer a post with what I consider a downright rude comment that they would probably never say in real life then have that backed up a few posts later by a friend and will giggle about it together a bit further down , which can be a bit off putting for a new poster to the forums

"Ah you shouldn't have removed it or maybe re write it in a slightly different way & re post it.

Yes what is it with cake ? I didn't get that. It was/is it a secret code? "

I don't know, you'll have to ask one of the clique....

I totally agree with you on all counts

Anyone noticed how they do that?

Private jokes thrown around, ignore what other people say and just flood thread with their private conversations lol

Like the group that thinks their cool in the playground at school that all end up working at tescos on the night shift

Hahah (no doubt sarky comments will ensue)

If any normal forum users want to get something off their chest about the forums on here please go ahead !

Apart from that, im loving fab and meeting loads of awesome people.

You're brave

Its not brave to state the truth.

You do realise when you've been on for 9 years rather than 9 weeks you will be part of the in jokes, just be patient you'll get there

Nice condescending attitude

Its been a riverting read and too many comments to even think about replying to them all.

I understand most people on here are cool as this thread and the god knows amount of people pming me saying they agree.

Why they havent posted a reply here probably proves the point that they dont want to argue with 'regulars'.

Sad to see really.

I'd love know if we're considered in the clique, I post fairly regularly but it's usually nothing of any seriousness.

Every forum has cliques and I think anyone who thinks they don't is in denial

While we are having a general whinge, can I just deal with something that grates for me:

An exclusive group is a 'clique', the adjective of which is 'cliquey' or 'cliquy'.

Clicky is the sound high heels make on a hard floor.

Sorry we all have our pet peeves.

Nice penis op.

I wonder if I'm considered to be one of the clique, I'm not the most liked person on here and argue a lot so I doubt it.

Going back to school I was like a superhero, I was hard so no one ever gave me shit, I was funny so I made people laugh and if someone was getting bullied or made fun of I was the one to to sort it out. So I was above bullies and was in the cool crowd and was known throughout other schools as the one who will have a scrap with you after a netball game or hockey game!
