The discussion on self deprecation sparked a bit of self reflection and I'm interested in people's views; how genuine do you feel the compliments you get from fellow fabbers are? Either in messages or veris? I receive some lovely ones that certainly soothe the ego but I always take them with a pinch of salt... Are us women perceived differently through the rose tinted fog of lust on here than the cool light of real life?? Just pondering...

I guess by the very nature of the site complimenting others is one of its basic tenets, and at the very centre of how it works.

Whether those compliments are always genuine, or a means to an end though is another matter.

Personally I'd not complimwnt someone on their looks etc unless I genuinely meant them, but then I wouldn't want to meet/play with anyone unless I found them genuinely attractive.

Some are, some aren't. The trick is in knowing the difference and not allowing your sense of self-worth to be defined by other people's perceptions. I refuse to stop making jokey comments or being sarcastic when the occasion warrants just in case people think that's me fishing for compliments since that would also mean I let others define who I am in this online world.

Not genuine. Mainly because I don't have face pics for just anyone and still get complimented. I suppose it's part of the flirting process and all, but unless I've met someone in the flesh and they say it to my face, then I don't believe it's genuine. I try not to compliment unless I really mean it, but sometimes it's good to make others feel good.

My public photos say it all. The ones which are not rude at all, just my face, got a few Fabs but as soon as I got my tits out (with bra), they went through the roof. Ho hum.

This is interesting... I think I feel similarly. Why be effusive in a verification but not say anything in person? This makes me doubt how genuine the compliment is.

From my perspective...Depends entirely who's said it to me,

As most on here don't know me I take them as that a compliment, it's often said in advice threads refer to something in the recipients profile, giving someone a compliment it's a useful icebreaker

It depends on the compliment and context. If someone says that you are super hot and your tits are totally awesome but they are hitting on you then that seems like a compliment you can disregard. If someone calls you beautiful and you have no pics that show more than boobs or pussy then that also seems like a bit of a stretch.

However if the person complimenting you has no ulterior motive then maybe it's a genuine expression of their opinion on you.

No one should use compliments to validate themselves. You are a magnificent person regardless of whether other people online notice it or not, after all we are all here for self serving interests and it's easy to focus on just what you need rather than what other people need. Likewise we shouldn't use negative feedback as a value of our person either.

But I LOL when they say 'you're gorgeous' as I think 'how on earth can you tell that if you can't see my face!'

I'm happy to receive / give compliments from those I consider friends as I think they are the ones that will mean something to me.

'Nice tits / arse, stunning, beautiful' are lines usually dolled out to all & sundry on here.

If every 'compliment' received was genuine I should then surely be at the top of everyone's to do / best women list, which quite clearly isn't the case.

All compliments can be seen as a gambit to get in your knickers. Only if you know the person well giving them well can you decide how genuine they are.

I can't speak for other men but if I pay someone a compliment it has no ulterior motive apart from its a compliment .

I'm not saying it to win favour or to impress I'm saying it because I was impressed end of.

I send compliments to people and I genuinely mean them..99% of the time a meet will never be on the cards and I usually state I don't need a reply. I hope that the people I've complimented have taken it as genuine and with no ulterior motive.

I compliment the ladies on their pics whether they fit our profile or not, acomplimented body/feature is to be complimented, whether you could or would want to have it is a different matter. I have also fabbed a couple of guy pics as I know the effort involved to get what some have, but do this less due to the "Fab" straight thing..

I just accept them as compliments - even in person compliments often have an ulterior motive so I'm not going to worry my head about it too much.

Given that pretty much everyone has something that can be complimented, I enjoy handing them out as much as I enjoy receiving them!

I find this particularly thorny mostly because I think what I find beautiful and attractive is not conventional, so if I compliment a lady on her body or her look, her profile etc I think sometimes it's not taken as genuine, when in fact it is totally genuine.

I think you will find compliments of all types here just like when you meet people in real life. Some people mean it..some don't perhaps because they have another motive. I suppose what I find odd is that there are a lot of women...tho by no means all showing their body off...boobs..bum..sexy lingerie...surely they must..expect comments about it. I fab and comment on some great profiles and pixs...do I think I will get in a girls knixs because of it...no....I really doubt it. But if you have it and and you flaunt it...then take the compliments and not worry. I used to see a woman at work....one time I took the courage to say what I felt...that I thought she was stunning....and I always thought it...and I just think she thought I was mad. I don't see her now..changed jobs...but I really meant it...and I wanted her to know even more so because I think her confidence was low ..husband had an affair..it was meant honestly...and sure...it wasn't a sex thing..I'd love to have dated her. .
