Men don't make passes at intelligent lasses!

According to recent research, when it comes to choosing a romantic partner, men are actively turned off by intelligence...and they can only overcome this massive obstacle if they find the woman particularly attractive!

A lot of men are intimidated by brains but can overcome that if she is gorgeous. It is easier to dominate a woman who can't see through their games.

I am told by friends and their husbands that men are intimidated by me.

Sometimes I feel I have to 'dumb down' in order to be 'approachable '. That sounds arrogant but I don't mean it to be. But guys often call me 'posh' or 'too brainy' for them etc....and it is frustrating. It's like they have some kind of inferiority complex and I find that really unattractive.

Thing is, I don't think I am especially intelligent at all but men don't approach me or if they do, I admit I get bored with small talk and mundane shallow topics of conversation especially if someone just agrees with everything I say because they don't have an opinion of their own or they are afraid to express it.

I guess it's one of the reasons I like confident dominant guys. I like an intelligent man who stands up to me and isn't a doormat.

So yes, I find a lot of guys don't approach me. Yet actually I am a nice gal!!

Humble intelligence is a turn on. If not then l do find it off putting.

Biggest thing for me is personality. If a girl treats me well I'll make a lot of effort. That's pretty universal though.

Would love to see who conducted this 'research,' at what institution, and according to what framework.

The idea that men are 'actively turned off by intelligence,' is utter tripe. In fact, most of the guys I know PREFER the company of a woman who's able to think for herself and make her own decisions.

I think there maybe some truth in this going off of my experiences in this online cesspit of sex meets .

the number of highly articulate intelligent women with high paying or highly demanding jobs I've had the pleasure of socialising with and sometimes more is high.

they all have two things in common they have never married and most of there vanilla relationships never lasted much past a year.

the thing that sticks out and makes me think this to be true is to me they were highly attractive women so attractive in fact I often found myself thinking how come your single when in their company .

I guess the answer partly lays with the fact they all were highly intelligent articulate successful women which made them intimidating to the average guy when it comes to a romantic liaison or relationship.

"According to recent research, when it comes to choosing a romantic partner, men are actively turned off by intelligence...and they can only overcome this massive obstacle if they find the woman particularly attractive!

Shallow much? "

i think its right. I think people are attracted to others of the same level of intelligence (or similar at least). If your knuckles drag on the ground then you might not be comfortable with a Nobel laureate. Just like if you are a member of the beautiful people you won't go looking for a partner who looks like they are a crack addict.

Brad pit has zero personality. But his looks will always be a big leg opener. Just like the research says.

This research says more about the men of Poland than it does about women of intelligence.

Also on here how many people say, "put effort into your messages." "Engage my mind and my body will follow." Are these women shallow or are they just admitting they are not attracted to men who cannot hold a conversation.

It's not shallow to date people you are on the same level as you. It's common sense because after the sexual attraction wears off, then you actually have to talk to the person opposite you. Date your own species people.

"

I'm intimidated by nether quite the opposite in fact.

beauty is subjective but intelligence is not that explains why intelligent woman find it harder to find a perfect playmate or partner .

after all you can beautify yourself up far easier than you can dum yourself down.

Just to be clear. My wife graduated collage, I didn't. She's more intelligent than me. And harder working. And much better at academic persuits. I was first attracted to her amazing breasts, but I was kept by her side the last 20 years because of her personality. I love every inch of her body but that just isn't enough to make a relationship last that long.

In Poland most men go straight into the army and could easily be intimidated by very Intellectual women. This report isn't actually anti feminist or anti woman as I understand it. Maybe it was intended that way by the publishers but if you think about it rationally it says more about the men than it does about women

Or..a simpler explanation

They were focussed on their high powered career they didn't have time for the guy..

Except that concepts such as 'good looking' and 'attractiveness' - physical or otherwise - is purely subjective.

According to what criteria did the researchers judge the men and women involved as being 'good looking' or 'attractive'?

For example, I think that Deborah Meaden from Dragons Den is gorgeous, but it's evident from comments made to me that I'm in a minority, at least among male members of Fab...

Sadly I can believe this. Many men value external looks over intelligence and compatibility cause they only want them for a night or a fling.

Personally intelligence, skill in something or wit are all turn ons for me, and I wouldn't date a woman who I thought didn't possess at least two of those characteristics.

And if I was to have a one night thing or a fling with someone,I'd hope they atleast be witty and have something more to them than wanting to fuck.

"I am told by friends and their husbands that men are intimidated by me.

2 counter points, it's an American study, so if their study was mainly American persons based the given outcome is predictable as traditional gender roles are still deeply entrenched in some parts of America.

On another note, I see your point, however I tend to find smart men are perceived as far more attractive for women who are looking for serious dating/starting a relationship. Obviously there still has to be physical attraction.

Lets face it, if a man or women is just looking for a shag after a few drinks, they most likely don't care if you are smart. Just that you look good, perform well and maybe have a good sense of humour.

"Women were impressed by men who were either good-looking or clever. But the male view of what makes the perfect date was far more complicated." Is what the article concludes.

If you read the full article you will notice a couple things...

1...Around 560 participants

2...4000 speed dates of around 4 minutes each

3...Participants were all from Columbian University of New York.

Hardly conclusive in demographics of age, culture, professional status or life experiences.

A fuck can last a few hrs or less....an intelligent mind hand hold your attention much much longer.

""Women were impressed by men who were either good-looking or clever.

*hand = can

Again, what exactly constitutes evidence of men "actively turned off by intelligence"?

Quick analysis:

4000 speed dates

560 participants

roughly 7 speed dates per paticipant

4 minutes each

Wow that's a full half hour of research.

NEARLY!

If this is what women are using as research results then God help them in their search for compatible like minded men lol

...Up on the Downs

Breaking news - the average bloke is more shallow when selecting his shag! Surely there has been a misunderstanding.....?
