Why ?

Why when advising single guys or newbies that one of the best ways of getting started in "the scene" is to attend as many socials in their area , do they say ....."i cant"

Dont they realise that by attending them, they have more chances of getting to know someone rather than just a few lines in a message.

Surely this has to be a good thing ?

So why do they poo poo the idea ?

Shyness maybe ?

Yet they got their dick out etc on a swing site

So go figure eh .....

Its always puzzled me....

And as i cant sleep.....i thought i would write it down.

Maybe because they want to get laid, not make friends.

Personally I love socials. They are what has kept me in the swinging scene all these years.

But not everyone is the same, and judging by the amount of single men that complain about not getting laid within 15 minutes of joining the site, then maybe they just arn't here for the social side.

Socials aren't for everyone: they're not for me either. I prefer meeting people one on one and not en mass. I'm not a social butterfly: the last social I went to was January with my ex-husband.

I knew some of the people there: one had played the organ at my wedding 30 years ago, and still I wanted to take a Kalashnikov to them all!

I think that's it for the blokes. They get a lot of rejection on here as a single and are worried that the same thing will happen at a social, sitting in a corner and being Billy no mates isn't a fun night out.

I was lucky enough to be able to go with a playmate as her escort for the night on my first social, so that helped greatly.

Without stats i'll hazzard a guess that most of what transpires on this site is neither social nor sexual.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that genuine swingers are very few and far between.

From what I can see most people use this site for a quick fix. Absolute nsa.

The forums are the most social aspect of FAB and it's easy to imagine that everyone else is gregarious and enjoys the company of strangers or familiars.

Most messages for sex are from single males that have never spoken to you before. They don't want to a pub or club and make conversation..... they want a fuck and they want it NOWWWWWWWW.

Some think a social is a mass orgy.

Some think they will be made welcome and they will be.

Some think they won't and they are right.

Some see no point as SEX not guaranteed.

Some see it as costly and these are the ones who wont buy a condom, let alone a fucking pint.

Some think it is for couples only and some couples think it should be.

Some expect verified singles only and you can't get verified till you meet someone... Doh !!!

and I could go on but the fashion piece on Lorraine has come on...

Have been to loads of socials and love them, have seen all the above but on the whole... THEY ARE GREAT NIGHTS.

ps... if the politics are left at the door

If I am honest I generally find the thought of attending ‘socials’ uninspiring and ermmmmm well lets just say I have developed a feeling of apathy towards them.

Years ago I would attend the big socials and just couldn’t see what everyone else there had got so excited about.

From my perspective… I was in a building with 100-200 people and all but 3 or 4 I had no sexual interest in whatsoever. There would be half a dozen people I was curious to meet… and usually half of them were a disappointment.

I meet 100’s of people every week at work and just like with these people I have no interest in becoming BFFE with every person I speak to just because we work for the same company or are on the same website.

I am totally bemused by the amount of people who seem to think because they see your name on a forum that they know you and even more so that they assume you should know who they are.

I find attending site socials the least productive method of making contact with people I want to play with, party with and even socialise with.

One only needs one reason to do something - he/she wants to do it.

Whereas one would always find zillion of reasons why one does not want to do something IMHO!

You can't drag a bull to a ditch to drink water, unless he wants to!

You sum it up so well.

I don't feel I am missing out on anything, especially as within an hour or so msn is buzzing with who fucked who on a bin, who had shite dress sense, who was fatter than they expected, who was older than expected, who had faded underwear....

Some people missed their calling and should send a CV to NotW.

It was actually a recycling unit, not a bin...

I'll get along to a social one of these days but as yet have just not got around to it, I do really need to attend one and meet some friends from here, no excuse really just a lazy bugger at times.

Your right though the new folk could get on the ladder by attending one

O o O oo

Not everyone likes to go to socials, we don't go to them, we find our fun from the site and have one to ones..( two to ones really )

I think it must be harder for a single male to walk into a social that there are a lot of couples ( as a lot are ) they already get a bad time on sites like this from some people, so I can understand them being wary.

Having never been to a social yet (unfortunately i missed the last in Bp) i can't really comment..I should imagine it's just like going to any other party/event/do ,in that some people will be friendly straight away, others not...such is Life.
