I know that I have two half uncles that I know absolutely nothing about, and my dad doesn't know much about them either

Now I want to find out about them but I don't want to upset my father in asking as he doesn't really care about then but I would like to know them and find out more about them..

I know mum knows some stuff but will only tell me when the time is right. It's kind of frustrating but intriguing at the same time. All I know about my nan was that she was born to a family of Irish gypsies in Croydon, and that her younger brother committed suicide in Irish guards

Go for it - I love my extended family.

If your dad is uninterested, see what you can do to find them out, without telling him etc.
