Signed on my isp website to get my email and a girl I hadn't seen for ages contacted me by instant message when she saw me signed on. She said that the chatrooms and forums had been hilarious since the introduction of the new software. As I don't use them anymore I asked her to explain and apparently as customers we can now cross references all of the screen names members hold.

I couldn't really see the advantage until she explained there had been some pretty huge rows because members were discovering people who they interacted with had many different id's and might be very friendly in one name but lairy and stalkerish in another. Also they had been writing on the forums and blogs and answering themselves. How effin sad!!! I had a wry smile to myself.

It is a good feature because if you also bar one of their accounts it bars all of the others too, so a good security feature. Also a good parental control thing for children being bullied if the bullies tend to gather around one pc.

This software is not a new thing in a lot of countries and its used to prevent crime or fraud. I can see its advantage to protect the vulnerable. It's going to be available in the UK soon to put on your pc so that you can check the source of incoming emails and instant messages from any site you sign on to. It alerts you if this person is writing or contacting from a known isp address in your data base already.

Its costly about 120 quid but would you buy it considering the nature of this website to ensure you're not being fed a line by some idiot in loads of different disguises? It will never replace gut instinct but its a pretty good confirmation tool!

You wouldn't be able to out anyone but personally if I bought it Id have a jolly good laugh secretly knowing who all the fantasists were on various websites in their multi names and enjoy writing back to Joe Bloggs saying aren't you John Doe?
