Ladies can i pick your brains (gents if you can think of something please oost as well )

I've a little lady, who about 18 months ago developed an ovarian cyst, brilliant news was it cleared all by itself , come forward about 15 months another developed and again disappeared all by itself (phew)at this point the go prescribed the dual hormone pill to stop this happening, a short while after taking this my little lady started getting severe headaches , go then prescribed the single hormone pill , my little lady needed a repeat prescription and has now refused to take the pill..

My ex and daughter fight like cat and dog , the more she says I won't the ex is you will ..

I had the phone call your daughter is this.. so I speak to my daughter and I suggest she has a think about what she wants to do , speak to a different Dr(preferably a lady or the nurse) read up on the internet so she's informed if she does see the Dr..etc..as much buying me a bit of time to find out about these things not easy being a bloke with little ladies and not a primary carer so the Dr won't speak to me.,

So ladies, I know there are different manufacturers different doses of hormones etc ..which do you find best or least side effects

I don't want my little lady suffering the pain of cysts likewise I'd like something tangible to suggest to the little lady as a course of action rather than suck it and see.

Sorry its a bit of a ramble..

Unfortunately what works for one won't nessesarily work for another. Sometimes you have to take the pill for at least 3-6 months before the body gets used to them and the side affects usually subside.

It must be very difficult for you and I feel for you.

I'm currently having problems with my contraceptive and I'm having to keep changing until I find one that suits.

Good luck and I hope your little lady finds something to suit her very soon.

Is it PCOS John, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? If so do some research on Vitex Agnus Castus, I believe that may be an effective herbal treatment which could avoid side effects. Also if it is PCOS that is related to insulin resistance and you might be able to control it with diets that control that - not sure which is chicken absolutely which egg but you should research those two. HTH x

I have major problems with contraception myself, unable to take contraceptive pill due to medication for epilepsy counteracting it and making it a waste of time taking it. Can't have the depot injection due to same so am waiting to be sterilised at 35!!

Hope you find a solution OP xx

What's the reason she is now refusing to take the pill? It's her body and her choice so of she doesn't want to do something then not a lot you can do.

Everyone reacts differently to different pills sometimes it does take trying a few to get the right one for you and it can take a while for your body to adjust to it. Perhaps she should go back to the doctors and see what they can suggest

Most GP's recommend going to a swingers site for this kind of problem. So, well done. You're already making giant strides forward.

I cant offer any helpfull advice just wanted to wish you and your princess well as a father of 3 i know how much we worry

I would ask the mum if she could register you as a second emergency contact and make sure the docs and hospital know your the dad thag way they should be able to keep you in the loop and offer you help as well

She told me that the single hormone pill doesn't stop her ovulating so it's pointless ? I'm stuck in the middle my gp won't see her for obvious reasons and my daughter's gp won't speak to me.

If she decides she doesn't want to take contraception that fine I told her that, I suggested she read up and be informed so she made the best decision possible.

I was hoping for some suggestions advice as I can only offer internet based info via the nhs sites etc.

You need to speak to the GP and insist on a full blood count (inc renal function) abdominal scan, and find out what the root cause it.

The pill masking the issues isn't a good idea. Personally I would push to be referred to a specialist.

Cysts in one area can be indicative of cysts in other areas.

If she's over 16 then I'm sure the Doctor is in his right not to speak to you about contraception. If she is under then speak to a nurse at school. She sounds like she has her head screwed on but young ladies like boys can be Rebels.

If you went through a messy splitting up then again if at school go to the nurse explaining your situation and try to prove your only doing the decent thing. I had a family member who went through a similar thing regarding power over the littluns. It's not easy but have a go.

Hope this just don't sound rubbish and I've wasted everyone's time.

Hmmmmm is women are very different. I can't use any contraception that contains oestrogen as this feeds my endometriosis so have only used progesterone based such as Cilest.

Once I turned 40 in April my GP stopped prescribing the pill completely. I have a cyst on my left ovary.

Would your daughter allow you to go to a GP appt with her? I got seriously fed up of years of complaining so took my dad with me to see my consultant at 19 & suddenly all my questions were answered xx

If it's PCOS then a healthy diet and exercise can regulate the ovulating and sort it out.

Some contraceptives can work. It took me a few years to find the right one but I have stuck with the coil.

If you are really worried, ask if your daughter will go to GP and you go with her. See what doc says and if you don't think they are doing enough then ask to be referred to a consultant.

If you can afford the £250 then a private visit to a consultant (probably via your GP) can be a worthwhile exercise. You will probably get about an hour of their time and you can be pretty confident they will know what they are doing.
