do you think you use this word too much (i can think of 2 or 3 forumites that will say no to this - lets see if i am right haha)

for instance, i get a message from a 19 year old. my profile has an age range on it and he is too young for me.

i reply saying 'you are to young for me, sorry.' Why am i sorry? he should be sorry for messaging me when he is out of my age range

similarly my profile states i do not cam but i always apologise when a guy asks me to cam for him

maybe i am jus a soft touch

Are you really apologising or just using a throw-away comment.

My standard reply is.

Thank you for your message but I am not interested. Hope you find your fun.

Seems to work. Not apologising but polite and to the point

Softness is a lovely trait in women and although it seems old-fashioned I think a little femininity in the written word is well received.

I think sorry is fair enough as it pads the sentence out to stop it looking abrupt and also shows you have manners.

Sometimes when I look at some of the handsome young lads on here Im very sorry they're not 15 years older!!!

xx

"Are you really apologising or just using a throw-away comment."

That's kind of my point. I think that out of politeness I can't not put sorry at the end of my messages even though they are 'in the wrong' for want of a better phrase as if they had read my profile they will know they are not what I am looking for

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

I do say it in messages but not in any meaningful way. On the whole I find a more courteous reply tends to stop some of the nastier messages back...

Gawd I sound like a girl. Need to grow some balls...

If its a message then I say the word sorry but etc etc etc. It is a throwaway comment and Im not sorry, but it doesnt do any harm, theres no need for abruptness and a ball breaking attitude. Im certainly no pushover and in debate I wont apologise for a point of view, but in general terms im happy with the kind response that I give others who message me.

A polite decline never goes amiss, ....lovely as some of them are they failed to miss my age limits on the profile. They may get the message one day

I would sometime's say sorry in a mail, but only if it has been a nice mail, it is more to cushion the blow so to speak, and tryin to be poilte in rejection, however i do agree i wont apoligise for comments i made in forums unless i have picked someone up wrong,(which i have done before) or have offeneded someone with my humour, as i would never intentionally offend anyone.

I would say sorry for refusing to do something, even if it is in my right to refuse in the first place, as I believe it is polite and courteous to do so.
