the 2 events i am looking forward to today are the women's 100m (dina asher smith vs olympic champ shirly ann frazier-price) and the women's 200... where my new athletic crush daphne schippers runs... and this track is super quick!!!

OOh.. they're not showing it here where I am. I hope there will be a delayed telecast.

I'm so impressed that the 4x1 girls can dip below 42 secs.

the track events doesn't start till 2.15 (on bbc1)

team GB have a lot of really really good female juniors who are talented enough to make it at senior level...and the 4x1 team are the shining example

Yes - I can only follow it up in the Diamond League website.

Yes, GBR has a good team of late - for both men and ladies sprint.

But I didn't expect them to be that good to be honest.

They didn't perform quite well in the British National or in the European Championship earlier - but I guess they're aiming to peak in Rio.

I hope the guys 4x1 can dip under 38.

37.78 vs 37.81 !!

I hate it when I can only see the live result. Grr..no live telecast.

Very impressive indeed.

Hope they will perform well in Rio too.

Will the humidity affect the races?

In london now 47% and in rio 65%.

Hmm..good question.

I know altitude will affect performance.

Humidity will affect long distance event though (marathon especially). Not so sure it's effect on sprints.

What's your guess?

Yes, it is a tricky one and I recon the same, that it will mostly just affect the long distance races too as you sweat more in humidity, which affects performance, but not the short 100, 400 metres as it is over quick.

shag asking the tough questions... get you!!!!

in the shorter events the answer is no...

it will affect the distance runners more as it makes it harder to sweat and the body can overheat....

but if you take nyc for this afternoon...97F with a 85% humidity..... so it could be worse....

That is right. I do like to ask them questions and yeah as more energy is needed for the long distance races. 85% is nearly as close to what rain forests have at 100%.

if you are not a fan... what i do every olympics is just pick the one event.... and watch it all the way thru...

the more obscure event the better... you get a brilliant sense of the sport...

in beijing i chose water polo.... in london i chose handball....

I always watch swimming.

My request for 1 week off from 6th till 14th Aug already approved - swimming events in Rio.

have to say i am not a swimming person.... so i tend to flick round the sports in week 1 and the do the track and field in week 2.... I know the rugby 7's is in week 1 so that may turn out to be my "obscure" event....

the team archery on the 1st weekend is a blast.....
