If everyone was only allowed to have one pic on their profile, do you think people would actually start reading the profile text?

I think it would depend on two things, the type of picture and gender of subject.

I've had times when I've had all my pictures on private with just an avatar and a profile that just said I wasn't interested in chatting or meeting... yet I still had messages from people who couldn't read

People are allowed to have only one pic on their profile. Some people will read, some people never will. Unless you embedded a widget so you had to agree that you'd read a profile before you were allowed to send a message I don't think you could make anyone do so. And even then it would be like the iTunes terms and conditions, and who really reads those? It might stop the copy and paste merchants who scattergun 'hi, how are you?' type messages to everyone within their search parameters but they'd only find another shortcut.

I think more people would read the text, yes. But I think you'd still have a good number who just sent copy and paste messages to everyone.

Apart from when I first came on here I always read the text, Mainly for my own benefit, What she is looking for, Type of Man, Height/body type etc

Not always. I have dreadful visual intelligence. Words win every time for me (not profile text per se but conversations). But I am aware I am weird in that respect.

Not if they are a Sapiophile. Then the visual impact ìs actually around 30 to 40% compared to the well scripted profile. For me I read the profile header and content ...that needs to grab my attention. Looks are very much secondary to an intelligent and sexy mind.
