you arrange to meet someone for a first social meet, but the other person cancels at the last minute, and the excuse is rather a pathetic one...it was something you were looking forward to so would you rearrange a new social or not, and if not why not?

If I was to arrange a meet and that situation arose I would simply re-arrange another meet,

the reason being; I would already have established a very good friendship and confirmation that the person is genuine prior to this arranged meet

a situation can arise at any time which can be out of the control of either party.

these things happen.

Not with that person no.

I appreciate people change their mind or get nervous but if it's a social meet then there's no pressure to go further.

It's bad manners to cancel at the last minute.

My free time is precious and not an endless commodity.

Cancelling with notice is acceptable but a no show or last minute just gets them on my block list!

Depends on the reason given I guess, and without knowing (or wishing to know) that, it's difficult to judge - but what may seem a little pathetic to one person, may not necessarily be so to another. I'd suggest a second chance was in order, unless that excuse really was transparentally pathetic and obviously an excuse as opposed to a genuine reason.

I have a strict No Second Chance policy, unless the excuse was a damn good one.

I rarely get any excuses, I've only had 2 no shows in 4 years.

Had one weekend meet who was a no show because he was stabbed and ended up in the hospital (yea, the story checked out)...that qualified as a Good Excuse. So do family emergencies. Pathetic excuses are things that I tend to take with a grain of salt and move on from quickly.

Even if they seem great online, why bother with someone who doesn't have the decency to show when he promises to?????

I would definitely rearrange, sometimes a flimsy excuse might turn out to be real. I don't even get on my high horse and block if it still didn't come off, but I would probably lose interest!

this happened to us last week, we where literally walking out the front door when we got the txt.

Blamed a call out from work, not the strongest excuse/reason but hey shit happens.

So yes we would give them a second chance but that would be it.

Life's a bit short to be messed around lame excuse normally means one of two things in this world cold feet or a fake profile IE fake pictures so I'd most likely move on .

But I did have a male friend who always canceled the first date his line of thinking was it made him more desirable you know the one you can't have sort of thing lol

I would trust my gut. It would depend on how I felt about the person and if I believed them.

I once had an insane 'excuse' from someone cancelling a meet. I trusted my gut and rearranged. He turned up with proof it wasn't just an excuse.

However, if I saw a veri pop up on the day (coincidence or not) it might well be a different outcome....

I give no second chances ever regardless. Been burned too many times before. Plus you say the excuse was pathetic which indicates a lack of respect.

I once got chatting to someone on here and liked him but had to cancel our first 3 meets I think for little things and thought he would deem me a time waster.

Eventually met up and got on like a house on fire and have had lots of fun meets since.
