My ex is a former world champion swimmer and at one point he was the fourth best male butterfly stroke in the world, so in certain circles he would be called quite famous.

His claim to fame is having sex with Princess Charlene, the wife of Prince Albert of Monaco - before she became a princess! - when they were both on the South African swimming team.

My sister in law is a British porn star.

And my 8th great grandfather is in the history books. If he had married the queen, I would be a princess (makes sense!) but she was notoriously a Virgin

I know both of Carter USM quite well and know a few other people to say hello to that were in bands from that era

The Rio Olympics will be the first one I can remember where I don't know any of the British cyclists although with a few exceptions they've only been passing acquaintences rather than friends. In my racing days I was quite good friends with 2 multiple national championship winning riders. But in those days cycling was a much smaller sport

Probably my most famous relatives - mind you it's going back a few generations - are Adam and Eve who were bible celebrities back in the day.

Since then possibly nobody of note.

Oh yeah - way way way back in the early 90s when we still lived in Sheffield, my mum used to work doing the pools round, and through that she became quite good friends with the family of the blonde girl from Human League.

Also, on my first night at my last job, I served members of the Dire Straits their dinner before they performed at the venue where I worked. And through the same job, I came very close to serving Brian May his dinner too.

Only found out yesterday that a close relative of L's has won the Turner prize. I'm not in that field so his name meant nothing to me. Thoroughly nice bloke though, always enjoy his company, you'd never imagine it, absolutely modest, even turned down an RA.
