Scunthorpe

It's very very difficult, any direct "military intervention" could potentially reduce the number of identified IS troops. However that would also have the effect of providing fuel to the propaganda machine which "inspires" people to carry out attacks in support of the cause.

Not sure you can but I did see yesterday, a good article saying that the Internet needs to be more closely monitored. If web users are going on sites that seek to radicalise them then can't these sites be closed down? I'm guessing not.

And can we stop giving terrorists ideas. One news report said: good job there weren't people in the back of that lorry. I thought great, so the next one you've now given them the idea to fill with terrorists who can then shoot more people. Good job TV reporter.

I don't think ISIS etc are really about religion ... I think it's about anger and frustration with life and the world, perceived injustices, and people being manipulated into violence and war to serve the wishes of a twisted minority.

Thus we need to address the worldwide problems that make people so easily manipulated into hatred and violence, such as inequality, disillusionment, distribution of wealth and so on.

Okeys carry on. Please see my other threads in which I solve world poverty, the refugee crisis, and how to connect a USB cable at the first attempt.

Radicalisation of young musslims should be stopped through scholars teaching the real word of Islam.

Dropping bombs on populated areas where a group of fanatics may be held up is not the answer. They proved this in Iraq killing thousands of innocent people.

Out of curiosity, had any one heard of Abu Bakr all-Baghdadi before Ossama and Sadam were killed?

K....but these people have been to these war torn countries they've seen the effect war has and it's given them an anger and the desire to show you what the impact of war is.

And so they come and show what war means to the safe soft populations of the west.

Ermm ok not sure what that was meant to say?

I'll admit ive not read the entire book i got far too bored but it is very hard to ignore that it was written to raise an army.

I did manage to get through the whole bible when i was younger though while it's laudable in that Christianity learns from the mistakes of the old testement/torah it still has far too many unpleasant sections for modern man.

Well there isn't a huge amount of room for interpretation on most of them.

You are correct Christianity has some terrible parts (aproval of slavery etc) there is no question of teaching interpretation though, modern Christianity just pretends they dont exist any more and doesnt teach them.

I mean can anyone remember going to church and hearing about how slaves should obey thier masters?

If you're referring to the incident in NIce. There is no evidence yet that it has anything to do with Isis. The neighbor of truck attacker Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel is quoted as saying

“It has nothing to do with Islam”

Until someone actually starts addressing the perceived inequality in the world and the double standards of the 'west' particularly in respect of the Palestinian situation nothing will change. That isn't going to happen because of the Jewish influence/control of government in the USA and UK.

Only by addressing the cause will terrorism be resolved.

In your bed

Violence is part of the human condition. So I'm afraid it's like saying how can we stop swinging.

Some people are more prone to violent action whether educated or not.

So unless we are going to drug the population, it will always occur.

On a practical level there are always steps to reduce risk but you will never eliminate it.

I did face palm a few times yesterday when so called experts and commentators kept saying. It's Impossible to stop people using vehicles to attack people.

They are educated and experts yet can't even imagine how to solve something that simple.

They don't even have to think that hard either as the tech already exists.

Teaching the word of the book ain't gonna make peaceful people"

Very true...read the Koran it is scary stuff, mind you so is the Bible

"Violence is part of the human condition.

How is it simple?

Wr build much of it into our archetechture but it's hardly practicle to fit 1-2ft wide anti truck barriers to every foot path in the country isnt it?

Massive anti truck barriers in every village that closes off the main road once a year for jubilie or may day etc?

Or the most obvious any motorway, how do you stop a terrorist in a lorry going the wrong way down the m1 smashing into oncoming traffic?

It is impossible

It's an organisation like any other. It's got a structure and needs funds to operate. Step one: starve it of funding.

Have we managed to stop turkey buying oil off them yet?

Doubt it, not sure how else they are funding 100'000's of mercenaries on ~$1,000 a month each

Captured gold, currency (iirc they have most of the money traders/exchanges in iraq working for them), antiques, drugs, slaves and human organ smuggling.

Heck half thier equipment was provided by the americanswhen they caltured it off the Iraqi army."

Ah yes, the good old drug trade - don't get me started on that one.

The problem with this thread is that it's a bit like the horse bolted from the stable and then someone says "right, has anyone got an idea to get the horse back in?"

No but I'd still like the string up Paul Bremer and Donald Rumsfeld.

I'm sure no answers are ideal but here's my attempt seeing I started the thread .

1. All imams and mosques to make it clear Islam is meant to be a peaceful religion and that killing people sends you to hell not heaven .

2. Israel becomes the bigger man , and invests in schools , infrastructure , aid and independence to the Palestinians ,

Treat as you want to be treated .

3. All religions and religious leaders announce that All religions have an equal right to exist .

4. Stop all air attacks and drone attacks ! We wouldn't risk it on a friendly country !

Treat as you want to be treated !

"Radicalisation of young musslims should be stopped through scholars teaching the real word of Islam.

Dropping bombs on populated areas where a group of fanatics may be held up is not the answer. They proved this in Iraq killing thousands of innocent people.

Out of curiosity, had any one heard of Abu Bakr all-Baghdadi before Ossama and Sadam were killed?

Abu Bakr ? Sounds like a Middle Eastern Greggs.

Abu Bakr is the leader of Isis."

I did not say it was predictable or that it would eliminate risk, but already we have technology that can stop vehicles crashing and recognising pedestrians.

Simply pass a law that all vehicles sold need to have this installed.

Then work on retro fitting after that.

It's not perfect, it's not cheap and there are ways around it. But it would reduce the opportunity and ease.

Not to mention the vast number of lives that would be saved daily on the roads.

It's a lack of imagination that says we can't take any steps to reduce risk.

"Not sure you can but I did see yesterday, a good article saying that the Internet needs to be more closely monitored.

To be fair to that TV reporter, I'm pretty sure a group of terrorists have figured that one out for themselves.

Why should people not voice their opinion or concerns. Sure it will effect little but saying nothing does not have much impact either.

Being allowed to vent is one of the things that we need to protect. Whether it be here or calling in to a radio talk show.

Better let it out than let it build up inside.

Education is the only way.

Didnt we just arrest a collection of physics and medical students planning an attack in the uk?

Many of the attacks such as bangledesh are being carried out by educated middle class young men.

Education doesn't nessecerialy help

Sorry that made me laugh.

Education as in the impact of war etc.... not a degree in coronation street.

You think people who have gone to training camps in Syria and somalia some of the most war torn places do not know the impact of war?

What about the so called 'home grown' supporters, a lot of them have never lived in war torn countries & have as much experience of war as I have.

Many of them are the ones who've gone to those training camps.

Iirc the medical student had his training in somalia.

But interwsting that you don't need education about the impact of war for you not to be a murdering terrorist, whats the differnce between you and these homegrown ones then.

"

They may have gone to the training camps but prior to that if they were born, bred & raised in the country they then turn on they probably have suffered 1st hand no more than you & me.

And the difference?? Who knows a sense of entitlement / injustice / misplaced loyalty / radicalisation / should be fighting alongside their 'brothers'....the list is endless....

I think we do over estimate their reach.

The are over a billion Muslims in the world. Isis represent only say 100000 tops. And it's falling.

I do think the west is trying to stay as far out of this one as possible. Learning from the past.

We are contributing just enough to tip the balance in favour of the locals fighting isis. But the days of us going in and resolving it ourselves or funding other violent militias only to have them turn on us at a later date are behind us for now.

Dear lord seriously?

So a massive vastly expensive upgrade campaign that for one doesnt even reliably work.

And as its a retrofit would take all of 10 miniutes to remove.

It would certainly be a way to cripple the haulage and auto industry and still wouldnt sove the problem.

So are emissions devices, doesnt stop half the bikes on the road having a simple resistor in place of thier o2 sensors though.

It is currently inpossible.

Even with your technological solution on all vehicles its still impossible to stop it.

And even if you did stop it bricks knives and baseball bats are still fairly easy to get a hold of.

You can do a lot less damage with a brick or baseball bat.

As for 10 minutes to get around. I'll give you a free ten minutes with my car or any car on the street and see if you can steal it.

Car theft did not drop due to thieves getting a conscience it was down to technology innovating and improving.

Car theft is very differnt to disabling a simple radar/ultrasound/laser sensor.

For one youve got an alarm etc blaring if im disabling a sensor the cars parked ive taken it appart so i have access etc

My last bikr i did the resistor mod myself as i have a suitable one lying around but for about a quid on ebay you can buy a plug and play onr with the correct connector.

Same for these sensors.

Just need to check how the ecu sees they're there then replace with apropriate circuit/component (or just take sensor lengthen the wires and stick it facing striaght up into the sky so it never "sees" the obsticle).

Isis managed to build a thermal battery swapping out a sensor isn't a leap

To stop recruits from here I really think people need to be more tolerant towards Muslims. If they feel like they don't belong anywhere then it's easier for ISIS to brainwash them.

As for stopping ISIS completely I'm gonna go with something my mad auntie said, send a load of angry mothers there. That's her solution to everything, paedophiles, stick them in a room with a load of angry mothers. Terrorists, stick them in a room with a load of angry mothers. Dunno what you do to fire up these mothers into being angry or what sort of skills they have though.

1 you just put up with it in the vain hope that they get tired of it sooner or later(n/Ireland).

In my humble opinion as a perv IS is just the current flag that people are waving to commit these acts, a few years ago it was AQ and AQAP, Boko Haram, the Taliban etc. It is not a problem with Islam, that is simply an excuse in my opinion. The people that are willing to do these things are doing it because they feel that there is an injustice in the world. There are many countries in the world that are suffering from poverty and inequality. These are the factors that people are upset about.

Try reading the scientific evidence on the case matter instead of nonsense like "eradicate religion" then, professor collier's statistical analysis of civil war is a good starting point

No I think we are human before we are Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu etc. There are have been civil wars and conflicts around the world between the same religous groups, so not all conflict is as a result of religion. I think most conflicts are between the haves and the have nots. If one group thinks that the other group has more prosperity, more political power, more opportunites etc. That's when conflicts arise.

If the middle east didn't have so much poverty, lack of education, lack of jobs etc, do you think there would be as much terrorism?

I've said on here for ages... All lines are converging, there's a multi point triangulation of shit coming are way!.

Population growth, climate change, social inequality, fiscal inequality, the money system, debt, the internet, technology growth, energy and automation.... There all converging, they've been coming for years and we've done very little about it while the sun was shining!!.

My honest answer is... Your not going to cure today's problems with today's thinking!... Now we could radically change the way we live and the way the system works, however I think it far more likely you'll just change your morality on the issues sooner or later, sure you'll bitch and moan for a few years about the hellishness but you'll eventually relent

"There's two viable solutions!

1 you just put up with it in the vain hope that they get tired of it sooner or later(n/Ireland).

2 you fight fire with fire and you actively target things they care about/mosques/family/housing... Completely strangle them out of existence(Israel).

.

.

Historically speaking neither have been super successful but they work a bit, when they say there's no easy solutions, they mean there's no easy solutions that sit with western morality!

I mean like SERIOUSLY ??

Just lost faith in humanity !

What did you want to hear.... I'll tell you anything you want to hear, everything will be dandy, you'll grow old, get a big fat pension and retire at 50, we'll invite every refugee in the world over, we'll have a sing a long round a camp fire, life's wonderful, you can fuck your way through all the new concubines....

Hope that on the whole the religion and people mature with time as happened with Christianity and the western nations.

They're a 1000 years behind on that front so don't hold your breath

Not remotley close to 1000 years.

Its only been about 150 years since we went to war with china to force them to let us sell heroin to thier population."

Whats that got to do with religion?

How about getting all the top Imams to declare that death by suicide during an attack upon civilians, or committing mass murder of civilians becomes haram (forbidden under Islamic law), and that perpetrators are made apostate (equivalent to excommunication) and cannot enter heaven. I don't know much about ISIS, but I do know a fair bit about suicide. You either have to be very very low, or very very high on whatever your belief or mentality is. If these guys believe,or have the slightest doubt they won't get into heaven and collect all the bonus points, they may not do the crime in the first place.

When people say 'serious question' its usually because they are about to preach their self righteous ramblings but I will give you the benefit of doubt.

ISIS, in one form or another, has been floating around for a decade. But the moronic decision to invade Iraq, remove Sadam Hussein, fuck off then stick our noses even further into middle eastern business gave them the opportunity and fuel to grow.

Or in short. ISIS is the bastard love child of Blair and Bush and they both men have a lot of blood on their hands.

Well I agree with most of that. Although I'd go down the chain a bit from Bush and Blair. Anyway, ISIS has been around for a while but it didn't become anything of significance until the policy of debaathification left the world's fourth largest army unemployed. ISIS pays them with the spoils of war. Why is it so strange to believe that most of them wouldn't rather be doing legitimate jobs, as most were before the collapse of Iraq?

To back up your reasoning; can you give me the percentage of ISIS made up by the old Iraq army?

While you are at it please confirm what units all the terrorists who have carried out attrocities in France over the last 18 months belonged to. That Jihadi John bloke spoke bloody good English for an Iraqi soldier too. Not to mention all the others that travelled to join from from all over Europe and elsewhere in the middle east.

What surprises me most is that it was Saddam's army that kept them in check before and a reformed version that is fighting against them and taking their country back slowly.

Unfortunately your point fails miserably especially if the answer to the first question isn't at least 95%.

indeed leven generals without a cause was an insane oversight.

They needed "cleaning up" or employing.

We did neither then where shocked when they raised an incredible fighting force against the army they knew so well.

That was exactly what Saddam was keeping in check. As stated earlier, your argument is flawed as your 45% figure doesn't add up. It is Saddams army fighting against ISIS, or doesn't that matter?

Blair and Bush are both cunts who enabled this to haapen. Nothing more to add.

I still want you to go to Syria and sell that as a deal to stop.

It doesn't matter what they have, they will still hate the west. They hate everything we stand for and want to destroy it. It is as simple as that.

But it is easily resolved but neither side will do it. All it takes is two stages;

1. When I don't like somewhere I don't go there. So of all people who hate the west fuck off to the middle east.

2. When I don't like someone I avoid or ignore them. So neither party talk to or deal with each other.

"We all realise how awful they are

but I was wondering if anyone on here has any sensible ideas on how they could he stopped or stop people from Wanting to do them ?

If the world leaders haven't got a clue then I'm certain that a load of pervs on here won't have the answer

Oh out of the blue a lot of peeple becomes expert

It amazes me the amount of people on here who are experts at everything from terrorism to finance to science and everything in between!

Quite why Theresa May didn't use the fab forums to staff the cabinet is a travesty!"

It's called having an opinion.

I've got a great idea. Why don't you pop over to Syria and sell that notion to isis. I'll keep an eye out for the video to see how well it goes

But Syria isn't the only place fighting is it? What were the FARC fighting for in Columbia? How about the Shan or the Kachin or the Karen in Myanmar? Or the Sierra Leonean civil war?

Why do you think people fight? And what makes people stop fighting?

I still want you to go to Syria and sell that as a deal to stop.

It doesn't matter what they have, they will still hate the west. They hate everything we stand for and want to destroy it. It is as simple as that.

But it is easily resolved but neither side will do it. All it takes is two stages;

1. When I don't like somewhere I don't go there. So of all people who hate the west fuck off to the middle east.

2. When I don't like someone I avoid or ignore them. So neither party talk to or deal with each other.

Job done.

Now if you don't mind. I'm going back to ignoring you "

If the middle east kept dropping bombs on the UK, Europe, USA you might get pissed off and want to do something about it. We do it in Iraq Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Libya, Syria etc.

If the whole of the middle east hates the west, then why is it that they are fighting each other, rather than directing their guns at us?

There was another part of the world that used to constantly be at a state of war with each other, it had been for centuries. They had massive wars in which tens of millions of people were killed. These wars we so big that they stretched across the globe. Their thirst to kill each other lead to the creation of terrible weapons of mass destruction. Do you know how they created a lasting peace after so many centuries of hostilities? They bound the economies of each country so closely together that war became impossible. Instead of working against each other, the countries started to work together. With peace came prosperity. People had houses and jobs and security and no longer felt the need to blame their problems on their neighbours.

Give a man a house to live in, a job to work at, food to eat, a family to love and the security to keep those things. Give these things to his neighbours and family as well, and the terrorism will end.

Serious question, where do you think ISIS came from? Followed by, why are some many of their leaders ex-Baath party?

It's widely reported that 45/80 of ISIS top commanders were ex-Baath party. Most of ISIS fighters ate mercenaries, jihadi jones types are rare.

What do you think Saddam's army did after they all got made redundant?

That was exactly what Saddam was keeping in check. As stated earlier, your argument is flawed as your 45% figure doesn't add up. It is Saddams army fighting against ISIS, or doesn't that matter?

Blair and Bush are both cunts who enabled this to haapen. Nothing more to add."

It's not a 45% for a start. Try reading comments before deciding they are wrong. What's your opinion on Paul Bremer?

You said 45-80%. Two figures you made up but as it can't be 80% due to about50% fighting ISIS that pushes us back to the 45%. Either way your theory doesn't stack up.

Paul Bremer had someting to do with Bush so is a cunt by default.

"I've said on here for ages...

Fuck yeah! Let's make a hashtag about it to 'raise awareness' bro"
