Now let's look at the above statement dispassionately. When is it appropriate?

When is it not appropriate?

Is it appropriate now?

on the road to nowhere in particular

When 84 people have been killed by a mad man driving a lorry, of course it's appropriate

It's inappropriate when used as a response to 'black lives matter'. Otherwise it's fine.

I can't see that it would ever be inappropriate.

I can think of many instances when I would consider it inappropriate - starting with the truck driver

Something very sad has happened. Innocent people have died...no. Innocent human beings have been killed and so France and indeed ALL people with feeling are in mourning. This is a FACT.

So why word it in such a way as to try to make it something it's not?

Why is it? when you look at BLM statistics in fact most are police officers killed in the line of duty and black on black killings.

All lives matter but right now there doesn't seem to be a lot of police officers shooting white people so quickly and in some cases without provocation.

so the focus is on black lives to raise awareness to the bias in some police forces.

This no laughing matter. 84 Human Beings have been killed and they were merely minding their own business.

I don't get sucked into the hype, but I do believe if you're going too highlight a point quoting statistics don't be selective over the information you give, as you then bastardise your own point

I think the top 5% tallest and bottom 5% shortest people on the planets lives don't matter personally. I don't care much for colour but extremes of size offend me.

Yeah...it's a rather daft thread

I believe the lives of men, who deliberately post on snog avoid threads, and break the rules by jumping to ten posts above to the last lady; should be reduced in value!

Do all lives matter? If yes do you include the truck driver?

Because it negates the point that is being made. Everyone knows all lives matter. Why get the arse and respond with it when black lives matter is mentioned.

Jeez. There is nothing that someone on this forum can't turn into an argument. Doesn't matter how tragic, how awful or indeed how many people are dead someone has to try to to make a 'point' out of it.

And then everyone has to make a counterpoint.

Pretty low really.

All lives matter.

It really is that simple.

The lorry driver from the attack last night... his life doesn't matter to me but I bet it matters to the people who love him.

I find it horribly distasteful to use such a tragic event to prove a point.

I am not sure what the point of the OP was.

Black lives matter. White lives matter. Lives matter.

Erm, no one who is vaguely sane would think differently?

It is a bit of an ... obvious reaction.

Yes you do.

Everyone matters. If someone is driven to commit such an awful act then we need to help them if we can so we stop them doing such things.

The fact that the only way to stop this guy was to kill him is a tragedy. The fact that we were not able to step in before he de what he did is a tragedy. 86 lives needed to be saved and we did not manage to. That is a tragedy.

True. And at one point the drivers life mattered a lot more. Who knows...maybe he felt his life didn't matter to others, which in turn caused detachment from society and him to act. Treat everyone like they matter is a good foundation for a peaceful society I say.

You speak the TRUTH, my dear young man but I assure you, it is NOT that obvious. Look around you. How did we get here? Why are all these happening? We all know and yet we all hide behind US vrs THEM, CIVILISED folk vrs Savages, Believers vrs Infidels, etc.

We all know of these things. I confess I am very SCARED. Very very.

No point being scared, it solves nothing and makes your life harder and spreads fear and intolerance.

Just get on with stuff and ignore the shit stuff you cannot change or affect in any way.
