When life gives you a kicking how do you deal?

I get physical.

Managed to bake 24 cupcakes, a choc fudge and 2 coffee walnuts.

Then mowed the lawns after my 3 year old went to bed.

Then started painting the living room.

Just about to bathe then bed.

What do you do?

That's a good way of dealing.

Productive and easy to think while you work.

Sadly I tend to curl up in bed and sleep it off. Which doesn't work too well as I get the shakes when stressed.

Try and let it wash over me, not worry about it (things are as they are), sleep on it, and things invariably tend to better (or at least clearer) in the morning

Hope all is ok lovely, keep smiling x

I become single minded and vow not to let whatever it is beat me.

I feed off the negativity and find I become really driven.

If all that fails then its time for vodka

I colour a lot.

Last time I had a stressful week I completed a really busy double spread within five days, absolute non-stop.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

It depends.

When I'm well then I wallow for a minute and then fight back.

When I'm ill I go to bed... for a long time.

I've not had any crap for a long time until recently.

I acknowledge its ok to feel crap if crap is happening and it's ok if I cry.

I talk to friends and formulate a plan of action that will resolve things.

Then I work a lot

Similar - make a to-do list, load up on podcasts and keep my brain quiet by doing until I'm shattered.

Being productive, being creative, taking exercise of some sort are all great ways of putting a positive spin on a crap situation. The original issue(s) won't necessarily disappear but setting out to achieve something useful can be very reassuring and distracting. I tend to do probably the worst thing and bottle stuff up which I brood upon until I explode at some future point. Must remind myself to follow some of the examples here and get myself an interesting colouring book for the next occasion I feel the world's against me or just go for a long walk.

If I'm stressed or annoyed then I box. A personal trainer I see is teaching me to box and it's such a fabulous stress buster.

If I'm unwell I go to bed and overdose on Netflix. This is what I've done for the last 2 days and I feel rested already.

I clean my bathroom. The rest of the house maybe a dump but my bathroom sparkles. Sadly the rest of house now needs to sparkle & be germ free.

My frustration will be taken out on my lawns at the weekend if it stops fucking raining!!!

Talking to friends really helps too xx

Sorry to hear of your loss. Grief can be a terrible thing and, forgive me from saying so, but if you're still feeling like that three years later then maybe you should consider some support. I'm sure your wife wouldn't want you to suffer like this. Good luck fella

If its just a shit day I'll go and play with (wind up) the kids cuz they're hilarious.

If its bad for a couple of weeks I well and truly self destruct!! Usually everybody around me can see if happening at the start and try to help me steer clear.

Usually I go out for a drive to somewhere I can collect myself. Usually arrive with completely cooked brakes, 2mm less on my tyres and a very hot engine.

Marsden Rocks have been a preferred destination, before they became enemy territory.

Depending on whar it is really. If it's something that is happening to me directly, I plaster on a big smile, stuff all my feelings deep deep down and carry on. Once every 5 years or so I have a major strop where all the pent up rage explodes.

If it is happening to a loved one I go into action mode to get it resolved.

Hug my daughter. Sleep more, don't sleep at all, don't eat, over eat, listen to music, depends, sometimes I just laugh at how many things can happen in such a small amount of time. Sit on my grans grave stone have a fag with her and moan that she could have stayed here a bit longer, sit on my nans memorial bench and moan at her for leaving me as well. Then wallow and dwell on things, then play candy crush flat out for days.
