Charity direct debits

hiding from cock pics.

For the last 20 years I have been giving three charities a small amount each month by direct debit from my wages.

I am now looking at if I should change the charities.

What your favourite charities that you feel deserve a regular long-term small monthly investment?

I have been giving to the World Wildlife Fund, sightsavers and Save the Children.

I do hope that giving by direct debit I'm not being naive and the maximum amount of money does end up at the charities disposal.

Is it G.A.Y.E? Where it comes off your wage pre-tax and they get the tax.

I am afraid that I am a tight bastard. Before giving to any charity, i always research how much that charity spends on administration compared with how much is spent on its beneficiaries.

Dont do it.these companys that collect and get you to sign up for dd are profit making enterprises.i used to work for one about ten years ago called face to face.

Each day you would be goven a different vest and logo.they would provide accomadation for the town you were in that day.

I understood at the time that the charitys only recieved 30 per cent.you are best to contact them direct and pay .xxx

We give to Shelter & RNLI monthly, G.A.Y.E is the best way and do it direct.

30% is more than most get .

The collectors ( chuggers) get £8.50 an hout and a % of each direct debit .

It's a fucking rip off ....

Choose your charity carefully and don't give to those who employ chuggers .

Something daft like only 14 in every pound donated goes to the people or things if you like that need it. The rest goes on admin fees and running costs.

I sign up to the direct debit directly with the charities not with anybody in the street.

I tick the tax back Gift Aid box.

So for example, on the World Wildlife Fund website and signing there to pay them directly from my bank account and letting them claim back Gift Aid on the tax I've paid on the money I have earned.

That depends entirely on the charity. Check them out before donating. Don't tar them all with the same brush.
