Name a band, group or solo artist you never knew existed but once you heard them it was a case of "where have you been all my life"

For me it was the first listen of "greetings from L.a" by Tim Buckley.

At that time I had nothing like it in my collection, different sounds to what I'd been into before and it was like some sort of musical revelation.

Suzanne Vega.

I'd not heard her until a couple of years ago, then I heard the song The Queen and The Soldier and fell in love.

Vegging in front of the TV and flicked over to see the end of Muse playing Knights of Cydonia on the Glasto coverage. Somehow they'd escaped me before, but bloody hell - what a band!

Best new band I've discovered through festivaliness recently are called Dirty Vertebrae. Never heard of 'em and they were low down the running order, but they were by far and away the stand-out set. Not just for me either - whole festival was buzzing about them.

Rotherham

Josh Ritter. It was a good ten years ago now. Heard the song Wings on a compilation album that came free with a music magazine. Was hooked from the first time I heard it, then preceded to go out and buy everything I could find on him. Loved him ever since.

North Herts

In a similar vein to an earlier poster had never really paid much attention to Muse (despite MsG's urgings to do so) until about 5 or 6 years ago when we got tickets to see them at Wembley and I went on a crash course of listening to nothing but them for about two weeks prior to the gig. Now seen them live four times and wondering how on earth I missed them previously. Simply stunning band who always put on a fantastic show.
