This has really got my hackles up driving home from work just now I saw a squirrel running across the road, once on the other side it decides to go back across the road, so me being me slows down to let it dash across the twat coming the opposite way speeds up and trys to kill it.

It sickens me to the core why someone would want to do something so evil!

speeding up and deliberately trying to hit it is so wrong

.

So is taking erratic action to avoid, what you done sounds just right, slowing down without slamming breaks on

people who slam on breaks or take swerving action can cause serious RTA's

For most people swerving to avoid a collision is an involuntary reaction and can't be helped.

I take it he missed? Are you sure he sped up as when soneone comes the other way on a road it's only a brief moment before they're past you anyway?

Squirrels are classified as vermin (well, grey squirrels are) in this country and can cause a lot of damage so maybe that was behind their thinking - but I know what you mean. I can't kill anything I'm such a wuss, even big meaty spiders get relocated outside

There are some people who take enjoyment out of killing animals as we all know!

Grey squirrels are an invasive vermin.

As long as the death is humane it's fair game.

The cause a lot of damage to native flora and fauna...

If your killing the animal for killings sake , that's so very wrong

So are humans but we aren't allowed to deliberately run them over. I'm not entirely sure being hit by a car would be a quick and painless demise either.

"Killing any animal for the pure joy of it is in my opinion wrong & just a little bit twisted."

Isn't that the reason we farm animals for food though?

Not like we need the meat

But what i notice is the story has since changed to "guy sped up to try and kill squirrel (that op had slowed down to avoid)" to the "guy slowed down then sped up".

So would it not be the guy slowed down squirrel was now no longer in his way he resumed his pervious speed .

That or the op is bizarely sat slowed down with the animal on the other side of the road heading away from him

Sorry when were humans legally classified as vermin?

As if that's the case all the people into BDSM here are going to have to start killing thier subs instead of letting them go home after a session

I don't agree with deliberately trying to kill something for a cheap thrill whether its running over squirrels or shooting them with an air rifle.

Generally something as small as a squirrel is going to be hit by the tyre. So most of the time it will be instant as most tyresuccessful are bigger than the squirrel.

If it's a red squirrel, I would take whatever action I could to avoid it.

We love our squirrels where I live, we have red ones here. They even put up rope bridges between the trees that were split by a busy road because so many were being run over, the squirrels don't have to use the road to cross now.

On the subject of wildlife, I was on nights last night, whilst out and about I grabbed a maccies at about 3ish and I parked on a jetty at the marine lake in Southport, there was a swan with a load of baby swans all huddled up together, I kept my distance and didn't bother them and just enjoyed watching them as I scoffed my Big Mac.

Why some plebs get a kick out of hurting these animals I'll never know, they're just wrong in the head no matter what the animal is they choose to hurt for fun.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

People that take pleasure in killing an animal for no reason other than macho bullwhip "I got a gun so I'm gonna shoot every fucking living thing cos I can" all seem to have one thing in common.. Their twats!!

Invariably their shot is so useless using a low velocity round that they don't kill the animal but leave it to die slowly in pain.

As for running animals over with a car, unlikely to be hit by the tyre, being that the tyres width makes up around 1/6th of the cars width.

More likely the car will just wound the animal again leaving it to die in pain.

It is a pathetic mentality of individuals get off on a power trip by killing something that cannot defend itself..

I'm with ya on this one OP, it makes me real mad too.

I had squirrel run out in front of me, when I looked in the mirror it was crouched down in the middle of my lane. My car had passed over the top of it.

It looked around and ran off. The car was fairly low and I didn't hit it. So working on the theory that most cars are higher, the squirrel will either be fine or hit by a tyre.
