I was 20 when I returned from a lads holiday to discover that mum had decided to redecorate my room.

Her choice of paper. Sky blue with brightly coloured air balloons all over it.

All the room was missing was a fkin Fisher Price play and learn centre

If you want butterflies OP you have them.

You're at 'that age' where you could have just have easily opted for pink rose patterns set off perfectly by some nice dark wood furniture

I thought it sufficed. I have plain walls and carpet, dark wood furniture and a massive bed. I also have a lovely butterfly duvet set. When it's in the room it isn't childish. So my no is from experience.

Ill admit some paper i saw i thought that woukd look more like a childs room, but it all depends on what you choose and how you accessories it. If butterflies are something you love, im sure if you went for it you would love the outcome just as much

They also do a really nice one for £65. Not too busy. If you get pattered paper, maybe choose more plain textiles to minimise the clashes?

It is your bedroom. Why do you need permission to decorate your bedroom to your taste?

Have plain walls and butterfly patterned bedding. If you get sick of the butterflies you can change them easier than redecorating. You can have a different set every week.

I'd say, feature wall in pretty butterfly wallpaper, then do the walls in a neutral colour, like off white or magnolia, then pick out an accent colour from the wallpaper and do the bedding, carpet & curtains in that colour, then go beserk with butterfly themed accessories. If you want butterflies, have the butterflies!

Do one wall or the alcoves either side the chimney breast with butterflies. You can always frame a piece of the wallpaper and put that on a plain wall to tie in with the theme.

If you know that you change your mind frequently. How about making the bed the feature for the butterflies. . Then it's bedding and a few cushions easy to ring the change in a plainer decor and not as expensive
