Was chatting to a lady on here and had both decided that we were definitely going to meet sometime in the coming week. Had a bit of light hearted banter last night while I was cooking etc...after washing up looked at her message which said 'You obviously can't be bothered to reply...your loss'

I blocked her straight away as I didn't like the fact that she had got so shitty as I hadn't replied within a nano second...made me think she wasn't as nice a person as I had hoped.

I'm sure this has happened to plenty of you but still made me feel like I'd been a bit mean to block instantly.

Sounds a bit needy to me but an instant block I guess is a personal choice.

I would maybe have messaged back in time and explained about tea and see how they responded then.

Now you see I wouldn't have been explaining anything! I wouldn't assume someone is on here 24/7 in rapid response mode to answer my messages so wouldn't expect it.

Some people are very needy and don't seem to realise you may be messaging others, in the chat rooms/forums etc and not there instantly for them.

I'd give them a very wide swerve: if they're like that during message exchange stage, can you imagine if you meet and shag them and you don't delete your profile the next day?!!

During your 'banter' did you mention you were cooking food and about to eat? Were the messages on here or another messaging app, did you just go offline before she had sent her last message and therefore she would've seen that you hadn't read the message and you were offline. If it was on here and then you went offline and the last message was unread then she shouldn't have said what she did. Reading the message then not replying could possibly envoke that kind of reaction from someone like that. To normal people it's neither here not there but this is my territory and I'm crazy like that. Whatsapp especially, it's like all you need to do to bring out my crazy is go online on whatsapp read my message then not reply.

Blocking to me is a useful tool, I never stress or feel bad about using it and if I think I've made a mistake I unblock...usually to find they've blocked us back

It's completely unreasonable to expect an instant reply (can take me a mixture of minutes, hours or days at times to reply) but myself I'd have just not replied to it and see where it went. If she continued shirty then I'd have blocked. She may however have seen sense and apologised (it's happened to me) in which case I'll give a second chance.....

oh gawd if people expect an instant reply or constant to and fro of messages they are going to be very disappointed - id say mostly people we chat to dont mind as long as drop an occasional catch up message - if they start to get edgy over it then yep bin 'em

I don't even include personality traits in my list of requirements but I'd be a lot more forgiving of personality traits if everything else was on point, big penis, handsome face, tall. I can't change another persons personality but I can adapt my behaviour or personality. In this instance we're talking neediness, if a guy was showing signs of being needy then I'd overcompensate with my reassurance.

Good for you, I've read messages from friends and family and haven't replied either but someone off here I'd assume they would be asking me something so wouldn't really open a whatsapp or kik message with the intention to not reply, unless of course the message was telling me information or something that doesn't need an answer.

All kinds of processes go on, whilst we're deciding who to meet with. It's for everyone's benefit and as such it's only to be welcomed when something happens, as part of this, that cuts out those who're unsuitable.

We don't know others that well before a meet. We have a fantasy but it'll be wrong.

More people will seem right than probably are and this shouldn't come as a surprise to adults, surely.
