Inappropriate reactions you'd like to be able to take back.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Many years ago I'd been working for a company for a few months. I was in a small team - just 3 people.

One day I was chatting to one of my team mates and he told me he played the bongos.

I laughed.

I wasn't laughing at him. Firstly I find the name bongos kinda funny. I also got a mental flash of a mad bongo playing cartoon character with mental hair and beard and flailing arms. Think something like the Trio advert of you're old enough to remember it.

He got really huffy about it, wanting to know why I was laughing. I couldn't explain it on the spot and he was sure I was laughing at him.

Our working relationship was strained for months afterwards.

Have you reacted to a situation in such a way you would like to have been able to take back? C'mon, spill the beans.

I didn't mean to hurt his feelings though and I felt bad.

South Wales

A little bit tipsy at the pub. I walk into the loo and mistake a long-haired guy for a woman. I went to leave, thinking I'd accidentally walked in the ladies, before realising my mistake.

I was mortified as I used to have long hair and people did that to me.

I tried to apologise later, but he was having none of it. The guilt spoiled my night.
