My son-in-law is white, my youngest gets married in two months to an Asian and my middle one to a lad from St Lucia (we're Jamaicans). It's about not generalising, not continuing negative stereotypes your raised with and empowering your children to be the best they can be and not blame others should they fail. It's not easy, but it can be done, providing the will is there. | |||

The diverse mix of cultures and ethnicities in our cities and elsewhere do, on the whole, get on well side by side. I haven't done Cuba but have travelled extensively in Asia, Europe, the Americas and Australia and there's definitely racial tensions in all those places. As a traveller you're more insulated from the underlying socio-economic issues underlying any particular country. I'm not denying there is an element of right wingers in this country, far from it. And I'm not suggesting everywhere is rosy - again absolutely not we have a number of issues to solve. But it's always easy and lazy to 'Britain-bash' and think the grass is always greener elsewhere.
