Bonjour there fab forum people

I have an upgrade coming up in a few months and was wondering should I stay loyal to Apple and the IPhone, I have had them since I moved from blackberry 6/7 years ago or should I shift away to the likes of Samsung, Sony, HTC etc.....

What are the advantages of staying for the iPhone 7 and advantages of leaving for another device

I am on my phone constantly and use whatsapp and fab mainly when awake also what's the benefits of App Store and the the android App Store etc.....

Thanks for your help in advance

Wolf

Tbh there is very very little difference between them now. They both pinch ideas from each other so have almost matched up.

It now comes down to what you like. Personally as some what if a geek I lean towards android as the customisation is key for me, I can make my phone do anything I like, setting everything up as I wish.

And as for apps, depends if you have spent money on them. If you survive on free apps and no hardware at home switching becomes even easier, if you have spent probably stick with what you know.

I'm just waiting for the Note 7 and that's me upgrading.

Oh and be warned, it looks like Apple are about to ditch the headphone socket to save a couple of millimeters. Means yo ha e to buy new headphones or an adapter and if your an audiophile you'll already know Bluetooth ones are not the answer.

I've had both and prefer Android over Apple for my phone, but I prefer my iPad as a tablet.

I like to be able to personalise my phone more than Apple allows and as far as that goes my favourite Android phones are HTC, particularly the Desire range. I've tried various Samsung Galaxy phones and didn't get on with any of them but only due to small things, but they were important small things like having a secure text message folder that is password protected (which I use for any work related messages but I imagine some would find it useful for other things ).

I also prefer not to use a QWERTY keyboard, on something so small, I forever press the wrong buttons.

Well this is a debate we have often in our household. L is Apple through and through, including macbooks ¬_¬ whereas im Android/Windows.

The middle ground we have come to is that there really isnt a RIGHT answer. iPhones are in many ways easier to use, they are simpler to understand, they tend to have a more consistent operating system. But they arent in the least bit customisable, they are very samey, really unless you leave it about 4 generations you really wont see a difference when you upgrade so it feels like a waste of money.

Personally when i was iPhone, i didnt bother upgrading until i was absolutely forced because what was the point? I was getting the same phone i already had with a slighty worse case.

Android is more geek friendly, has a lot of custom options, can be programmed to do all sorts, can use Kodi without a jailbreak, and has more variability in the handsets so you can get one that suits your needs.

But, the big thing that does differ between them is after care. If you get a problem with your Apple product (And people get them far more often than their smug attitudes would dare admit) you take it to an Apple store and they just sort it. No fuss, no fucking around, problem solved.

If you get a problem with your Samsung, throw it in the bin. Seriously, they arent interested, and that goes for pretty much all the Android makers.

I love Android, running a LG G5 and nVidia Shield K1 tablet, and id recommend them to any geek. But for an average user, Apple just makes more sense. Especially since on a flagship handset there really isnt any significant price difference on mobiles any more

What do you want to do...do you want a flash phone or one that does what you need it too. Is size important too.

Techwise there isn't much difference that you will really notice. App stores are both easy to use ..though some may argue the android app store is less regulated, everything is released on both iPhone and android.

OS wise apple is what it is, if you like it why change, if your itching for more android let's you customise!

Both apple OS and Stock Android are easy to use.

If you have all your music in itunes loaded to your current phone have a macbook, or apple TV etc. Lots of stuff in icloud stick with apple iPhone

If not then the switch is easier.

I ditched the expensive contract and expensive phone got a Moto G mostly because it is small enough to fit in my pocket. Does 4G etc.

Works fine Skype video calls, what's app, etc. Has front and back cameras both of which work just fine has a flash . I don't watch movies or play games on the phone and it isn't loaded with music ..just needs to be a phone , take photos and video, browse the web, what's app, kik, tinder, and google maps for sat nav etc.
