When is a child not a child?? xx

Yesterday took my 10 year old to a Taybarns restaurant set price all ya can eat

We go once a month

This time i asked for an adult and child as normal

The girl asked my daughter her age and she said 10

I then got charged full adult price

I said ta the girl what age do you class as a child then

She replied its Two years to nine years old

So tell me this if she is classed as an adult and an adult in my eyes is 18

What would happen if i sent her to the bar for an alcoholic drink??

I wonder xx

They are just using misleading words which is annoying. They should say that they will serve smaller portions to the under tens.

My freind was refused a child's meal in a pub because he is tall.

Makes her furious as he hardly eats as it is.

I think its daft, i think on public transport its 16.

In resturaunts i can understand to a degree unless she did have a smaller portion and not an adult sized meal.

The Asian buffet restaurant I frequent do it by height, somewhere around 1.45m I believe.

some restaurants in Birmingham state 12 years old or 1.2 metres tall, what height has to do with it we dont know

It's a big fat con. My daughter is 11. She does not need adult size portions on her plate. Yet most restaurants insist she is classed as an adult. If you make enough fuss about it they usually relent.

Yes pearl buffet island also an Asian restaurant near us has that too

However its clearly advertised where as Taybarns age range is not xx

I think height is a better measure than age.

To be honest if they just said full or half portions and allowed anyone to eat the size they wanted they'd get more business.

places like all you can eat restaurant makes sense to do it by height, but places where you pay for what you order to me makes no sense.

Sometimes as an adult i don't even fancy an Adult sized meal..

think there should be 2 menu's and it shouldn't matter on the age. My 70yr old grandmother rarely eats a full portion so would make sense for her to order a childrens meal. She finds a massive plate full of food often intimidating and off putting

Dont see McDonalds kicking up a fuss :D

that would be great cos going out for a meal with my mum is a pain. she has had a stomach bypass and can only eat very small amount and would prefer a childs meal but often isn't allowed. What a waste of food

On planes it used to be 12 when I used to go with my children, don't know if that's changed now.

I get cross with this at work.

At 16 a child is charged an adult ticket, yet if they are under 18 they are not allowed on the site unless acompanied by an adult!

I understand the height thing, my son has just turned 13 but is heading towards six foot, he eats like there is no tomorrow and just cannot be filled up. I do however order child size portions for a friend as she cannot eat a full adult portion, usually we have no bother. I'd rather be charged for what we do eat than what we leave on our plates.... ridiculous in this day and age to encourage waste of food.
