Just thought I'd pop the question as to what everyone's favourite soundtrack to films are. My personal favourites would be Gladiator and Apollo 13.

West Wales and Cardiff

The Wicker Man and The Taking of Pelham 123 (the originals)

Superfly

I went to see the film Hunger some years back. David Holmes (who did Oceans 11, Out of Sight etc) did the soundtrack and was giving a talk about it.

The first question was "David, I couldn't help noticing there's only about one minute of music in the film".

He replied by saying there's way too much music in most films and he decided it wasn't needed in the movie.

Good Morning Vietnam great film too.

I'd also like to throw in Magnolia. The soundtrack was done by Aimee Mann, it's really rather good.

I work with a guy who is a classically trained musician, we get to chose what music we play and he often works through the works of movie composers. We had the John williams week (bit samey) we had hans zimmer week (surprisingly large body of work) but a particular highlight was the day we did LotR

Geek alert!

Magnolia is pretty good(including the way he uses sound effects).

Empire Strikes Back(just because).

Rushmore(or anything by Wes Anderson for that matter).

Out of Sight.

Once upon a time in the West(sound effects too..).

Vertigo.

The Thing.

That's off the top of me head.

Oh, and the banjo scene from Deliverance..
