Aside from the thread saying what accents we like ....

Tell us all about your own

I'm too much of a mutt to have a strong accent, but I was brought up in Gloucestershire and Bristol

I'm from Manchester, but from South Manchester. The accent on the whole is not as broad, I would describe my accent as being northern without being classic Manc (Sort your knapper out mate! Etc). Dare I say a modicum of education and good parentage prevents me from sounding like one of the Gallaghers. But that said I love all accents and the diversity of accents and diversity we have on a small island is a joy and a treasure

Heinz 57 really.

Born and raised in the north east but didn't really develop a Geordie accent. Not RP but not far off.

Then I went to live in Liverpool and picked up a bit of Scouse. Then west Yorkshire. Then back to the north east where I somewhat finally sounded geordie-ish.

So far I've had people as if I'm welsh, a LOT of people asking if I'm Irish, one of L's work colleagues says I have a "ding-dong voice like Chris o'Dowd", and even more asking if I'm a posh twat.

Personally I don't think I sound anything like any of those.

Mine's pretty neutral with flat vowels. I haven't a clue why as I was born in N. York's, raised here, and have parents with soft Yorkshire accents themselves. I seem to pick up hints of other people's accents. It's completely involuntary but I must sound a right twat.

A world of my own

Soft Edinburgh accent. Some think it's posh. Some have even said it's sexy. Personally I'm just glad I don't sing when I speak or sound like someone on River City

Rotherham

Pure Rotherham accent here. Very Yorkshire. I do consciously try and speak in a clearer, more nondescript accent when I'm around non-Yorkshire/Northern folk though.

Stoke area

I went to school in Liverpool and did my uni course in Wolverhampton. So at one point I had a good mix of scouse and Brum (scum) .

Moved around a lot since then, so it's a mixture of accents now.

I grew up in 'Ackney and was told I sounded posh. Posh isn't an accent.

Well spoken London, if anything.

What's mine?

I don't have a Norfolk accent. I can be a bit lazy with how I speak though.
