The lost art of actual socialising

Was out Saturday night with the present Mrs Hood, eating a meal at a very nice restaurant we were seated on the balcony area overlooking most of the restaurant, not long into the evening a group of 7 very young women (early 20s) where seated below us, seemed to be a birthday celebration of some sorts, anyway, the Mrs had noticed that a lot of the time they where all on their phones txting etc and where not really talking much, I've seen the a lot of this when I see groups of the younger generation out in bars and restaurants, they spend more time on their phones than actually speaking to the people who they're out with.

Anyone else noticing this?

. Yes I do see this, all the time. Lads in the pubs to, 4 to a rabble and they're all on mobiles

My friends and I all put our phones in the middle of the table. First person to look at their phone has to buy a round.

The world has changed technology has advanced it has its benefits and some drawbacks people wana be connected to the world all the time via social media and in doing that we sometimes fail to see what's right there in front of us

Have to confess to being guilty of this at times, although it's generally a quick look at something rather than spending the whole time on it, but am trying to quit the habit!!

Read an interesting article not that long ago about a restaurant whose profits had nose-dived in recent years and were trying to work out why, and struggling to do so until they reviewed old CCTV footage from when they were doing well and realised the issue was people were spending longer over their meals because they were spending time on their phones, and not checking the menu, eating etc.
