Celebrate or Mourn?

.

Today we lay our beautiful angel to rest.

After the sad and somber ceremony came " The Wake "

I've been to funerals across the globe and I must say; our concept of celebrating the life of our dealy departed as opposed to mourn their death, is definitely the better option.

Not sure if its appropriate to say, but... This was definitely the best funeral I've ever had the misfortune to attend.

R.I.P. Beautiful Angel

Apologies in advance for my d*unken inappropriate post in a swingers website.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It must have been an awful day and my thoughts are with you.

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to your question - it's dependent on the individual.

A celebration of their life sounds appropriate today and I'm sure that they were looking down on you today

Celebrate who they were, what they did and what they achieved.

I've been there. All I can say is the memories never fade.

No apologies needed.

Sorry for your loss.

Thank you.

Celebrating is defiantly the way.

I've been to some quite morbidly soul destroying funerals. Most at best are normal somber affairs, but this was my first experience of truly celebrating the life of the departed.

Was undeniably the best experience I've had on a sad occasion, and one I'll cherish as a happy memory.

We celebrated the life of my late husband. I do however distinctly recall catching his brothers look of disgust at me, when I was mid laugh at the wake.

I'd spent ten tragic months nursing him from a fit guy to a shell, yet we both tried to maintain humour along the way. My late husband would have approved and his brother...well walk a mile in my shoes is my reaction to that.

Sorry for your loss and the response from the brother.

A few of our friends didn't attend the wake because it was a celebration. Found that hard to comprehend.

As the saying goes.... Each to their own.

Herts

Must admit, I don't like funerals but I guess some people just kind of need that moment to say goodbye and can't comprehend it being like a party or celebration in any way.

I'd rather people had a party after my funeral. To spend time together and appreciate what they have.

But I couldn’t EXPECT anyone to just get on with it and enjoy themselves.

My apologies for asking, but was this a child of your's then?

xXx

Firstly sorry for your loss and my deepest sympathies go out to you,but have to say that it's better to celebrate someone's life and remember all the good times you had together than mourn there passing, yes it's a very sad occasion and it is never an easy thing to go thru but on a personnel level I would not want people to be sad at my passing after all there are only a few gauruntees in life once we are born we will die and it's what we do inbetween that defines us!! So I intend to make the most of every moment and enjoy life and go out with a smile on my face

Difficult times, do seem to bring out people's true colours. And sorry for, your loss too. Can't tell the relationship to,you, but just take one day at a time, it's going to be tough now the planning is over, take good care of yourself.
