The politics threads being in the lounge?? What ive always loved about the lounge is its a bit like being in a pub. The topics of conversation are mixed and varied, religion, sport, politics, sex etc. I know it's been a mad few weeks with the referendum but did politics really need its own room??

Brighton - even Hove!

I'm glad it's all gone. I'm not a 'remain' for the politics thread, I'm glad it's exited.

I see what you did there!!

But is it an over reaction to a period of madness around the referendum when there were so many threads? Probably like being in a pub the topics will vary depending on what's going on in the world. How far do we go, a room for sport? For kiss fuck avoid??

I kind of agree. I'd dip in and out of politics threads but I won't go and seek them out, so I've not bothered with the new politics part of the forum. Maybe once the referendum furore has died down it can be remerged with the Lounge? I can understand why a lot of people were finding them a bit too much at the moment.

Me too, but I guess it was a reflection of a really important national debate.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

It has made it easier for me to ignore them. I realise my weakness is not a reason to exile politics to the depths of the European boards but it's saving server space on the block list.

I didn't come on here as much when all the threads were running, I'm all for different subjects but it was filling the forum up from other stuff. But that's just me

little house on the praire

Theyve only been moved further down the forums and people that come on to debate can do so. They havent been banned. Im also guessing there will be a lot more politics threads. So instead of closing duplicate threads theyve moved them. It was fine one a day but it got to the point it was getting impossible to scroll to something that wasnt political.

Hopefully the politics forum won't be a permanent fixture because it does dumb down the lounge but it was definitely needed

I have stopped myself from posting a couple of threads as they might have been seen as politics. Most things come back to politics with me.

I ended up sticking Mary Seacole under politics even though I think it's history and should have a wider discussion.

I avoided them but they were starting to over-run the place and folk would get a bit testy and then vent a bit on other threads.

You are right, for the referendum they dominated, but normally it is good to see them as a part of the lounge. The lounge seems a bit dull without them.

I don't do politics, especially not on here, so am glad to see them exiled as it were. It was starting to reach a bit of a crescendo whereby sometimes almost 50% of page 1 was Boris, Cameron, Farage, this that or the other. I use a pc, so they're not that hard to scroll past, but more a pain in the arse on a phone

It was an extraordinary period for sure. But the threads now remind me a bit of a teenage youth club

Might have something to do with the fact that it's the most momentous crisis faced by the country since WWII that has opened up a massive fault-line?

Ho hum.

Ive moved it out, I think the Politics forum is more for the referendum/Brexit/election/ PM/labour party etc etc stuff.

We can always move threads around if they are in the wrong place
