Recently in the news I have heard some shocking stories of people being racially abused following the eu vote.it is like people think it's ok to now be racist and abusive to people. This is absolutely disgusting behaviour I feel sorry for the poor polish people being verbally abused and one young asian man was punched, people being told to go back home.this has to stop it's not acceptale and small minded ignorant behaviour.

I don't think racists were sat awaiting the outcome of any vote before they started being more racist

"I don't think racists were sat awaiting the outcome of any vote before they started being more racist "

It's just funny people are being openly racist and brave now we have left the Eu we wasn't hearing it as much before.maybe it's the media highlighting it but definetly not nice for people on the receiving end!

Media highlighting something that helps their billionaire owner's political agenda and ultimately their financial enrichment....could be onto something there mate.

Central

We only know of things because of the media but official statistics show a rise in reported incidents.

I think it's social influence that's helped fuel it, people losing inhibition due to their inferred acceptance of others feeling it's ok.

Totally unacceptable and we have years before free movement stops, if it actually does even happen.

Some people are dinosaurs, failing to adopt to changes. As well as projection of their own inadequacies.

Only one thing though, we HAVEN'T left the EU yet. We are still very much a part of it.

People I know have left Facebook because it's been awful what people say. I've noticed more hostility when out, can feel a bad atmosphere. Something tragic will happen and then people will realise it's gone too far.

When I hear people getting punched in the face because of the colour of their skin and being called racist terms it sickens me and it's shameful we live in this kind of world.innocent people being targeted for no reason its just ridiculous.yes it's like they have lost inhibitions like they are d*unk and behaving stupidly.

And,even when we have left the EU,hate crime will still be hate crime,,,still illegal in post EU Britain unless Parliament are foolish enough to repeal the laws.(Nice little vote loser that would be).

Stating the bleedin' obvious but a small minority don't quite seem to get that.

I felt for the young man on the news he was punched and called the p word and they told him to go home,,,disgraceful behaviour terrorising people because they've all of a sudden grown some balls.

Partly following other people but I think they were already racist just not so brave to voice their opinions now they are using it as an excuse to be a coward yes.very sad state of affairs.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

It's not just because it's being reported in the media. It is actually happening. The police have stated that there's been a 57% rise in racist attacks and abuse.

Being English in Scotland has yet again become unpleasant. My life was made a misery during the independence ref and all the racist shite has risen it's ugly head again since Brexit.

"I don't think racists were sat awaiting the outcome of any vote before they started being more racist "

I think that some racists think their views have now been validated and that the public support them.

Well that's of course an 'opinion' and not a 'fact'. You have no idea whatsoever what is in the mind of a racist.

Criminals commit crimes, arrest them and put them through the courts. Just don't try to blame it on people that voted to leave th EU, that's just ridiculous.

There's some footage of muslims being abused on their way to the mosque in Birmingham. It's about a mile from where I grew up and I'm pretty sure my brother is one of them I guess at least my parents get to be proud of 1 son

How did I blame it on people that voted to leave?

"How did I blame it on people that voted to leave?"

By saying "their views have now been validated". A clear reference to the EU referendum.

Maybe quote the first half of the sentence for context too?

Ads dad has stopped talking to him and even blocked him at one stage (they voted for the same bloody thing!!) all because ads had a friend who got deported...the guy was sticking up for Britain on a Facebook post and his dad went right off in one and private messaged his friend and it was all downhill from there!!
