Anyone read the Preacher graphic novels? IMO they are the greatest series I've ever read. I haven't yet seen the series on AMC, anyone know if it's anywhere near as good?

I think I'll wait for them to pile up and bulk download/binge watch them. Apparently the storyline is not strictly following the comics but they are so worth a read

I have read the whole series (l love Garth Ennis's work) but when l read the plot synopsis, cast comments and saw the cast photos l decided to give it a miss. The comic is a rollercoaster ride of the unexpected. It has vision and difference, the synopsis and comments made it sound like the standard tv series experience.

Arseface is supposed to have a messed up face in the cast photo he looks only to have smoker's wrinkles around his lips.

Also why is Arseface appearing so early.

I decided not to watch it.

Yeah that's kind of my feelings too, I think I'll still give it a go.

Totally agree with arseface, thought he looked very censored. Can't imagine everyone he crossed paths with throwing up.

There are also key things down the line in the comic series that clarifies matters at the start and early on in the comic. I can't conceive of a TV series where series 5 clarifies matters in series 1 without feeling contrived.

Love Preacher, Ennis and Dillon were a fantastic team..big big fan of their earlier work on Hellblazer

I can only imagine that a Preacher TV series is gonna be heavily toned down

The Boys is still in production hell. The first script wanted to make suitable for 15 year olds!!

"The Boys is still in production hell. The first script wanted to make suitable for 15 year olds!!"

Thing about Ennis, as a writer he's only one speed and that's full throttle, take no effing prisoners!

If your gonna go near his work then you need to recognise that...or simply don't go near it

Yeah its frenetic for sure. But I wouldn't want it any other way, I'd assume they want to stretch it out as long as possible but I'd hate to see it diluted.

Thing is I don't see why you can't have these comics committed to film undiluted, uncompromised

Look at movies like The Raid or Outpost

Or even 300, I sat watching it and dug out my graphic novel, it's almost frame for frame in likeness, I thought it translated perfectly
