it is time for my annual camping trip and as i am busy trying to cram my tent into the tardis of a bag it came in to i am reminded of how much i hate fecking camping!!!

any top tips (apart from booking a hotel room )

Love camping.

Biggest tip is don't forget a torch and to have enough light, you can't have too much light. Oh, and sufficient gas if you're using it. Can be a bloody bummer if you run out (no pun intended)

I remember many moons ago when going away with the family to devon camping back in the 70,s we were alongside a wood and apparently a family of badgers came out to Investigate us thou I was fast a sleep at the time, I wonder how much the location has changed since then we did have nice weather or at least dry weather, I did,nt know about all the creepy crawlies that could bite in them days good job too.. safer behind bricks and concrete.

Back in ma biker days in the mid 80's, me & 2 mates went camping all round Western Europe for 6 weeks. Top tip, don't get a puncture on a mountain road in Switzerland

It's like torture - it's either cold and wet or too hot in the tent - having to go to the loo somewhere disgusting no thanks!

Going to the loo at three in the morning, inebriated after wrangling for at least thirty minutes whether to go or not, getting half dressed whilst sleepy, struggling to find the torch then trouncing around a wet campsite isn't the best tbh

As i live in a tent the majority of the summer at festivals i have to pack light but take essentials..swlf inflating mat, blow up pillow, really lightweight mummy bag ultra light cooker....the following is however handy :

Solar lights for outside tent - 2 for a £1 in poundland

All in one coffee satchets...no need for milk and some even come with chocolate sprinkles!

Dried fruit..easy to pack and doesnt go off in heat

Cable ties...useful for tying around push buttons in some showers to keep them on

Always have tablet with kindle app...can find a power socket easily enough to charge evrything

Most important of all....Moist toilet wipes

I don't rough camp - we have our favourite site in Dawlish that has immaculate facilities & plenty of them. I've never needed loo in middle of night though.

Always take solar lights for round the tent ropes
